What is Silver Scream? Silver Scream is, put quite simply, a satire filled with parodies. It has been called a "Tribute" to the best and worst of Hollywood. I don't know if tribute is the word, but I guess out of the love I have for Horror Movies, it may well be. I have always loved Horror. As long as I can remember I've loved Horror. It is from this love that I wrote Silver Scream. Now, don't get me wrong... I am not one of those "Cinema Snobs" who sit around and debate over what this meant, and how could this have been done better, and why this was or was not believable. NO! I am just the opposite. I love the saccharine dipped artificial cheese spread that is Hollywood. The worse the movie... the more I like it. Who cares if it's could or couldn't happen. If I want reality... I'll turn on the bloody news. No, I want fun... I want escape... I want to be entertained. And, for better or worse, these films entertain me. Oddly enough, the more real a movie is, the less I like it. That's why Silver Scream is what it is. Fun, gory, entertainment... with all of the authenticity of a professional wrestling match. The whole story is a satire of the way Hollywood works, and the way it looks at the real world. The songs in the show are quick little parodies of some of the best known "Horrorwood" films. They tell the story and act as the protagonist to our heroes, Tobe and George as they race though the movies to save Tobe's sister. The character Mr. Friedkin, (The theater manager who gets pulled into the movies with the boys) acts as the example of the "everyman" going through life with blinders on, so caught up in the real world of managing his theater that he forgot the reason there are movies at all. For the fun of it. Movies are fun... or at least they should be.

THE PLOT

Tonight will be the last night of movies in the old Saenger Theatre. The owner and curator, Mr. Friedkin, has decided to sell the haunting, run down building to the city to make room for a new parking garage. Two teen horror fans, Tobe and George, and Tobe's older sister Shelley have gone to the last midnight movie to say farewell to the great gothic cathedral of cinema. With the exception of Mr. Friedkin, no one wants the Saenger to be torn down... including the Saenger it's self. It would seem that the old building has other plans than just standing there and waiting for the wrecking ball. Haunted by the memories of horrors from Hollywood, the building it's self makes one last stand by bringing to life the images that have been forever burned into it's old silver screen. Tobe, George, Shelley and Mr. Friedkin are about to take a black and white journey into the unreal. They are about to confront the most terrifying villains to ever creep out of Hollywood's past. They are about to confront the most dreadful killers and thrillers ever to emblazon their images onto the silver screen. From horrors quiet black and white beginnings all the way through it's gory blood red present, ... George.... Tobe.... Shelley... and the despicable Mr. Friedkin .... are about to SCREAM!

"Silver Scream is a sharp, funny homage to classic horror movies -- and a stab or two at some of the new stuff - - filled with some terrific songs. Kristen Hudson is the perfect blond-in-distress, with a great voice. And the Leatherface scene is much better than that lame dancing in those wimpy Chainsaw sequels."
-Gunnar Hansen

“The most unusual film of its type - with actual choreography -- original tunes, a sense of humor.”
-Herschell Gordon Lewis
