***** Atrox Entertainment is proud to announce the upcoming release of their first feature film, "Contamination: Project Resurrection".
In the quiet town of Burgundy Falls, something has gone horribly wrong. A mysterious outbreak has transformed the peaceful citizens into ravenous, flesh-eating zombies. Only a handful of people remain unaffected violent drifter Jack (Ray Boucher), Deputy Alex Winters (Beth Billeck), and local farmers Pete & Roy (Nicklaus Louis, Jeff Sanders). Trapped by the bloodthirsty undead, the group forms an uneasy alliance in order to survive.
What terrors will they be forced to endure as they strive to make it through the night? And what secrets about the outbreak can be learned after the appearance of scientist Marcus Singleton (Drew Corbitt)?
CONTAMINATION: Project Resurrection promises gut-wrenching horror, brutal action, and a healthy dose of dark humor that only the fine folks at ATROX ENTERTAINMENT can provide!
"It seems like there is a zombie renaissance emerging these days," says Contamination writer/director Michael Murphey, "...and we're glad to be able to put our spin on the genre."
The film is set for release on Oct. 30, 2001.

Someone finally has the balls to put out underground horror on DVD and it's those cats at Alternative Cinema. Usually I don't post message board items in the news section, but this one is worth merit.
"Yes, the notorious underground home video label VIDEO OUTLAW is about to release it's first three DVDs - DEMON LUST (Dir. David Goldberg), THE NIGHT DIVIDES THE DAY (Dir. Jeff Burton) and CREMAINS (Dir. Steve Sessions). All are deluxe dual layer DVD9s packed with cool extra stuff.
"Tuesday, September 18 2001 is the rollout date for the (3) VIDEO OUTLAW dvd titles."

As an independent studio, DEPT.13 is always interested in increasing the world's awareness of the "underground" filmmaking community. Let's face it, with big-league players like Hollywood and, uh... well Hollywood, the more exposure we get the better. This is why I have decided to add a retail section to dept13.com, dedicated to making these low-budget (and some not-so-low-budget) efforts available to you, the viewing public.
We begin with eight controversial and outrageous short films by the immortal Joe Christ (that's right, eight). Buyer beware, they're not for the weak of stomach but definitely a must see.
Thanks for reading! Enjoy the movies!
Sincerely,
DEPT.13

Wednesday night will be the second run of four for the pilot episode of Sub Rosa Studios new public access TV show - "The Red Files".
The Red Files deals with a series of bootleg video recordings of evidence from various F.B.I. case files. Each story is told in documentary style, and most cases deal with unexplained supernatural happenings. The series is being overseen by Syracuse filmmaker Ron Bonk ("the vicious Sweet", "Strawberry Estates", and local TV shows "Syracuse City" and "Big City").
The first episode, titled "Red Files #66-10801: Pritchard's Landing", deals with a college student who sets out to shoot a short film based on a legend of a legless ghost - only the legend of the ghost becomes all too real during the course of shooting. It stars Syracuse area residents/actors Dani Gottuso, Dave Boudov, Jerry O'Sullivan, Jessica McGrail and Ron Bonk. It was co-produced by Jerry O'Sullivan ("Gut Pile") and Lloyd Lathrop, co-written by K. Siegfried based upon an idea by David Sammons, and co-produced, co-written and directed by Ron Bonk. Special make-up effects were supplied by John Pinkerton and digital effects by Sub Rosa FX.
"Pritchard's Landing" airs 8/8, 8/15 and 8/22 - which is every Wednesday - at 10pm on Channel 3 in the city and 14 in the suburbs. New episodes will follow monthly, and eventually every two weeks. The second episode, subtitled "1717 Evergreen Terrace", is complete and will first air 8/29. This episode deals with a "Big Brother" reality type game show and a serial killer breaking into their house one night. It stars Jasi Lanier, Lloyd Lathrop, Ed Mastin, Jessica MacGrail and Joseph Romeo. It was produced by Lloyd Lathrop and Ron Bonk and was written and directed by Ron Bonk.
More episodes are currently in the works. For more information on The Red Files TV show, please contact Ron Bonk @ 315-454-5608, or email him at webmaster@b-movie.com

QUICK NEWS NOTES
*****Recently, Columbia Pictures contacted Sub Rosa Studios about putting a copy and/or poster art of Strawberry Estates in as a prop on the new Men in Black sequel shooting right now. We also sent them Dirty Cop No Donut and The Disappearing Dawn to be included. Look for them when Men in Black II comes out in Summer of 2002 - they will be in one or both of two possible scenes (the scenes shot in May) - a scene in which they are trying to jog Tommy Lee Jones memory in a video store that carries "conspiracy" theory type product, and another in a the bedroom of a kid who has a lot of conspiracy theory type product and is helping the MIB's out. Hopefully we will actually able to see them when they do the final cut of the flick.
Sub Rosa is finalizing an agreement that will land three of our titles on DVD in major retailers like KMart and Walmart, among others. The titles will be announced soon. Six more titles have been accepted and an agreement will be signed for them as well in the coming months.
Also, watch for the Sub Rosa titles to make it back into Tower by the end of 2001. You may also see a few of the "friendlier" titles in Best Buy and Borders.
And last, we cut a deal to send John Russo's "The Majorettes" to Germany (DVD and VHS). Also, Sub Rosa Extreme's second production (title TBA) has been pre-sold to Germany and the UK, and interest is pending from France and Spain.

PRODUCTION NEWS
*****Sub Rosa Main Offices has been busy with a series of shoots over recent weeks. First, we shot two new short Red Files episodes. The first one, "Pritchard's Landing" was completed and debuted on Syracuse TV this past Wednesday night. The second one, "1717 Evergreen Place", is being edited now and will air the last Wednesday of August. A script is partial done for a third story and an outline has begun on a fourth (they will shoot towards late August early Sept.). Once we have about 90-120 mins worth of segments, the episodes will be compiled into one feature and released.
Sub Rosa Main also hopes to kick pre-production into high gear next week on a horror comedy project. The movie could start shooting as early as late August, and the title will be announced then.
Sub Rosa Blue over saw "Xil's" productions of "Attack of the 40Ft Tall Incredibly Shrinking Women" and "Virtual Voodoo" recently. These two short movies are all shot and Sub Rosa is handling the editing while Xil handles the special effects shots. Both titles have already presold slightly over their budgeted production costs.
Big news from Sub Rosa Midwest... Director Sebastian Cult will take over activities at the Kentucky office while newcomer Marc Elsworth will handle things here in Syracuse. Tim Ritter and Ron Bonk will stay on as producers and still continue to oversee the productions in a lesser degree. Ritter had to clear his schedule to work on "Dirty Cop No Donut 3" and his two novels, and Bonk is busy on the new Red Files productions among other projects. The division has shot and is editing "Slaughtered Starlets" (which secured enough in presales to handle production costs). It also has "Necro Sluts" in pre-production and several other movies on the drawing board.
The Sub Rosa Extreme line, headed by Eric Stanze and Ron Bonk, is near the end of pre-production on their second title. We have secured one overseas investor/co-producer on this flick, which promises to be one of the wildest movies in recent memory. A second and possible third overseas producer may come on board as well. Three more productions will shoot before the end of 2001 from this new division.
From non-Sub Rosa production news:
After Midnight Productions has wrapped "Vampire Playmates". It's described as a custom made production "with lesbian vampires in lacey, somewhat thick white petticoats." The movie is edited and music is being added now.
Piranha Pictures is now in production of its newest film, FIFTH CITY. Written, Produced, and Directed by Eric Thornett - fresh from his triumph 23 HOURS, a cyber/noir thriller that tore up the festival circuit and which was an official 2001 Slamdance selection- this off-beat mix of action, comedy, science fiction and mystery promises to be unlike anything being currently produced in the indie arena. And to top things off, the film features the wildest and most elaborate kung-fu action ever seen in a low-budget film.
John Bowker is deep into production on a sequel to his hit "The Evilmaker". I had more info on this but seemed to have misplaced it

RELEASE AND PREMIERE NEWS
*****Sub Rosa Main has secured rights to some interesting overseas horror flicks and shorts, which will slowly come out over the rest of 2001. We will also be representing more overseas and U.S. films to major buyers as well in the coming months. We're also working closely with a number of well-known cult filmmakers in effort to help them raise money towards their budgets for some of their currently planned productions. This will be announced publicly as the deals unfold.
Sub Rosa Main is working on covers for "Violent Midget Wrestling" (we might have some interesting release news on this one soon, which will explain the delay), and "Shusterman Levine". "Shatter Dead" comes back out on VHS in about another week.
Sub Rosa DVD is deep into the "Hellcats in High Heels" DVD. The disc really promises to be something special - wait until you see the Menu's alone! DVD's of "Shatter Dead", "Eight Legs to Love You", "Creep", "Vampire Blues" and others start work in mid-August.
Sub Rosa Extreme is working on the artwork for the VHS release of it's first production, "Bizarre Lust of a Sexual Deviant". This is one wild and entertaining flick. It'll be coming out in a sleeve for a full national release.
Sub Rosa Blue is working on covers for Jess Franco's "Vampire Blues" and "Vampire Junction". We're also working on the covers for Aqua Fantasies "Random Acts" and an erotic tale called "Joanna". Wave's "Vampire's Curse" will be re-released as a new special edition and will make it into a sleeve this time for a national release. "Hookers in a Haunted House" will soon get a new cover as well.
Sub Rosa Cult will get back on the test cover for "A Modern Day Western" soon. And "Dead Girl on Film" will get a slightly improved cover and go national around end of 2001.
Sub Rosa Shorts has finished artwork for "Stumped" and will have it on the site soon.
The Sub Rosa Lines are currently seeking kid and family-friendly programming, as well as more documentaries and other special interest titles (of course, we still welcome the usual horror and mayhem titles). If you have anything, please email us back!

Die Hard Dracula Press Release - (Hollywood) -Veteran stunt coordinator/stuntman Peter Horak has joined the ranks of first-time filmmakers with the completion of the horror-spoof, "Die Hard Dracula."
An Ambitious, mini-budgeted updating of the Dracula legend that features flying coffins, a shapeshifting Dracula who flies like Superman, spews lightning from his fingertips when threatened, and keeps a few sexy vamps around the castle. Working with a small crew, the self-financed production benefited from the talents of a number of industry veterans who joined Horak's production team. Director of Photography Mark Morris, with sixteen 35mm features under his belt, co-produced. Co-Star Bruce Glover lent his hand to some of the writing. Glover, with hundreds of TV and film appearances to his credit, including "Chinatown" and that delightfully perverse villain from "Diamonds Are Forever", teams up on-screen with Denny Sachen, the "Bugle Boy " guy, and gorgeous soap opera star Kerry Dustin, for a good natured, blood-sucking battle royale against a Dracula trying to provide his family of brides with new blood. Shot mostly in the Czech Republic, the film takes advantage of large-scale locations seldom seen in a micro-budgeted film...a fifteenth century cathedral, two incredibly ominous castles and the world's largest crypt of skeletons. Writer-director-producer Horak is from the Czech Republic and knew all the spookiest places to shoot. Horak didn't forget his action/stunt roots in producing his first film. Throughout the 70's and 80's he appeared in many popular TV series doing dangerous stunts, and for years was listed in the Guinness Book as the world record-holder for jumping a boat. Die Hard Dracula combines stunts and action with tongue-in-fangs sense of humor. Creating some inventive special effects normally attempted only on high-budget shows, he was able to physically fly a 6' 5", 250 lb Dracula in and out of windows, and fly coffins through the night skies. Computer-generated digital effects were also employed to enhance the supernatural atmosphere as Dracula morphs into various shapes. The filmmakers' philosophy was simple! What the world needs is a new twist on the Dracula legend that makes for great late-night viewing. To do that you need large-breasted vampiresses, a 500 year-old castle, rapings and pillagings, a hilarious bedroom scene, blood dripping, and quotable campy dialogue. The producers goal was to treat the horror/vampire tradition with respect, while giving audiences the same kind of satisfaction that past cult classics have offered...with unexpected twists...juicy enough for a horror fan's collection.
