You will find an incredibly detailed plot synopsis for the film on Ted’s website as well as pre-production photos detailing the various masks and make-up effects.. The following description of the zombies also comes from the website.

"The Astro-Zombies, with synthetic blood, implanted bodyparts, solar-energy driven heart pumps, and receiver chips implanted in their brains are indestructible. Aliens who inhabit a giant asteroid create and control them, giving orders through cyber-space for these half-human, half-robots to terrorize and kill entire populations, giving the aliens total domination of the Earth."

Brinke Stevens recently finished shooting on WITCHOUSE 3 with Director J.R. Bookwalter. Starring along with her are Debbie Rochon and Tina Krause. Brinke takes over the role of Lilith from Ariauna Albright. According to Brinke’s website, her thick contacts contributed to an injury on the set forcing her be on crutches for a portion of the shoot. You can view Brinke in full make up on her website.

Brinke's screenwriting talents will be given a voice again courtesy of an impressive cast in "Dr. Horror's 'Erotic' House of Idiots". Barring any conflicts in her busy schedule, Brinke will be a script consultant to the Paul Scrabo production, a comedy inspired by films such as "House That Dripped Blood", etc. "I'm taking everything I've seen in b-movies and doing the exact opposite." says Scrabo, who believes most low-budgeters are guiltier than Hollywood in sticking to a 'formula'. Principal photgraphy begins in September, but "House of Idiots" elaborate musical number will role early this summer, with Debbie Rochon (American Nightmare), Mike Thomas (Mistress Frankenstein), Shannon Albright (The Point After Dark) and the legendary John Zacherle.

The following is a news update from Sub Rosa that I should have pulled a while back.

- GUT PILE and INBRED REDNECKS DVD OPEN STRONG - No records were broken in their first weeks of release, but both Sub Rosa's production "Gut Pile" and our newest DVD release "Inbred Rednecks" opened to strong sales at b-movie.com.  Also starting strong was the release of Jay Lind's "To Dance with Death".

The good reviews are start to roll in for "Gut Pile" as well.  Mike Watt of GC Magazine and SCAN said "I first heard about Gut Pile in the premiere of SCAN Magazine, way back in 1996. Trust me, it was worth the wait. Telling the simple story of a hunting accident gone wrong, Gut Pile director Jerry O'Sullivan and producer/co-star Ron Bonk have put together a genuinely entertaining, low-calorie jump-fest. It is also one of the best Evil Dead 'homages' I've seen in a long time." Mike Goes on to say "While there's really nothing new to be had here, what allows Gut Pile to rise above the rest is its style and pacing. Practically every shot is an effect - an odd angle, a strange motion - and yet, surprisingly, this never feels over-used or pretentious. O'Sullivan and company are having lots of fun here, and it shows. We get ax-p.o.v. shots, the low-to-the-ground Raimi-inspired 'Shaky-cam' shots, off-kilter dutch angles pervading the film. And yet it never feels like O'Sullivan is trying to do anything but provide a good ride for the audience. It barely clocks in at an hour, and there isn't a lull to be had. With such a brisk running time, to list any technical faults would be quibbling and unfair. Gut Pile isn't Proust. Even the short behind-the-scenes documentary is fun and informative (a rarity among no-budgets docs, which are usually superfluous and annoying).  The acting is all above-average (which is saying quite a bit for a no-budget film), though filmmaker Bonk (The Vicious Sweet, Strawberry Estates) stands slightly above the others as he plays every scene with maximum energy - and there is even a welcome cameo from b-movie superstar Sasha Graham near the end. And a fun time is had by all."

Also, set for release at b-movie.com in the coming weeks is Sub Rosa Midwest's "The Peeping Nun", Jess Franco's "Helter Skelter", Sub Rosa's Short Featurette "Stumped", Creative Productions' "Dream Witch", and Sub Rosa Blue's "Peek-a-Boo, Then I Strangle You."  And coming later this month is the Jess Franco two-pack "Eight Legs to Love You/Mari-Cookie and the Killer Tarantula".  Soon after, watch for Scooter McCrae's "Shatter Dead".   Also, work is under way on DVD's of Paul Talbot's "Campfire Tales" and Justice Howard's "Hellcats in High Heels", and VHS releases of Charles Cullen's "Modern Day Western", Evan Jacobs "Shusterman Levine: A Boxing Fable", "Violent Midgett Wrestling",  Jess Franco's "Blind Target", Creative Productions "The Blonde Wench Project" and much more!

The following press release is from EI Cinema.

EI INDEPENDENT CINEMA and COMEDYJAM.COM announce the release of the independently produced comedy, Rules for Men, directed by Robert Capelli, Jr. and starring Capelli, Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling of The Howard Stern Show, and Vincent "Big Pussy" Pastore of HBO’s hit series The Sopranos. Rules for Men was executive produced by Palisades Pictures, the guiding force behind such indie favorites as Restaurant and Ten Benny starring Adrien Brody (co-star of Spike Lee’s Summer of Sam). Shot in and around Hawthorne, N.J. and winner of "Best Comedy" and "Best Actor in a Comedy" at the Atlantic City Film Festival, Rules for Men also features the talents of long-time comedian Frank Gorshin (TV Batman’s "The Riddler"), Kamal of "Jerky Boys" fame, and popular New York City DJ Christine Nagy of nationally syndicated Z-100 FM.

Based upon the book by noted author/attorney Kenneth del Vecchio and co-written and co-produced by Del Vecchio and Robert Capelli, Jr., Rules for Men is the story of Michael Vigilante, a criminal defense lawyer with ten golden rules for seducing women. When not in the courtroom, Michael likes to spend his time in the bedroom, and he does anything and everything in his power to assure success in both. In the course of his daily travails and polished seductions, and in the midst of a possible reconciliation with an old girlfriend (Christine Nagy), Michael must deal with his wise-cracking law partner (Jackie Martling), an inept prosecutor (Vincent Pastore), a sex-starved judge (Nancy Sirianni), a Mafia tough guy (Kenneth Del Vecchio), and a quack psychiatrist (Frank Gorshin). As Michael sees things, it’s all in a day’s work... and a day’s work for Michael leaves lots of room for play.

Rules for Men boasts an exciting and original soundtrack featuring songs by Jackie Martling, Pilley, The Scoldees (fronted by Nancy Sirianni), and King Norris (lead by Fred "Howard Stern Show" Norris). Both the VHS and DVD release of Rules includes as a bonus segment a never-before-seen stand-up comedy routine by Jackie Martling, and the DVD presents music videos by Pilley and The Scoldees as well as other cool "hidden" extras. Look for Rules for Men to be released in June of 2001.

The following update is from Sharkey Video.

We are excited about the new scenes we plan to include in Fempyra before it's summer release. We have also added new characters. Even though the video is being released as a short, it is coming closer to being a feature.

Here are some quick facts for those of you who have been waiting patiently and have been inquiring about Fempyra:

First of all, the production got off to a rocky start 2 years ago. It suffered many financial and technical set backs until Dawn Murphy took control and rewrote the script, designed her own sets, and searched for an actual castle that Femprya could call her own.

That's right. We even went on location.

Some of the original footage has been included in the final edit such as some great scenes of the talented and sexy Pamela Sutch and Debbie D.

New scenes are being planned with the sexy and sultry Szilvia (Last Laugh)Dominello and some other new faces. Pam and Debbie may also be doing some additional scenes.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Fempyra- it is a female-alien vampire saga in the tradition of Dark Shadows with a sci-fi twist.

Dawn in the title role is amazing due to the fact that she wore so many hats during the making of this movie. She even did the special effects makeup.

We were lucky enough to get an on-the-spot interview with Dawn before she broke for a long hiatus to have her baby this year. The video will include Dawn's exclusive interview about the production problems and secrets as well as bloopers and behind-the-scenes footage.

Rest assure, the editing is going great and we anticipate some new and exciting footage for all you vampire fans.

David Lee will be promoting Fempyra at the upcoming Horrorfind convention in Baltimore, Aug 25 by holding a drawing for a free copy of the video. Be sure to stop by our table- SHARKEY

Production Company Grows A Little
One final note on a personal side. On May 14th our Foo family added it's latest member. Emily Bryn Chapman was born to Foo Co-Founder C.C. Chapman. This is the second child for he and wife Laura. Their son Dylan is set to make his Foo debut in the upcoming Absolute Precision and we're sure that it's only a matter of time before Emily appears on the big screen. A big congratulations to the whole Chapman Family.

Marionettes Completed
This snow bound thriller was filmed this past winter when two blizzards nailed New England. We figured how often do you get a backdrop like this so Jason Santo led the gang out into the wilds of the woods of Malden. This film had a long post-production due to large amounts of color correction that was needed. Early sneak previews have garnered extremely positive reviews. A trailer for the film is currently being cut and you can look for this film to appear on Fade To Black #14

After Midnight Moving Along
Our second feature length film in conjunction with Jodom Pictures is moving right along. The cast and crew have been filming every weekend since mid-April with only Memorial Day weekend off for a break. The production has taken us everywhere from a doctor's office, to a train station and all the way up to a cabin in Vermont. Production continues this weekend at a church and features the biggest stunt of the movie so it could be a long day. Mike Amato has done a rough cut of some of the footage and everyone who has seen them has been very impressed. We're still on target for an end of 2001 release.

Crowded Post Production Slowly Clearing
With the completion of Marionettes , this signals one less movie in the very crowded post production area over here at Foo and Pan. Hoping to follow suit is Dial '5' which we are told is finished except for the opening credit sequence and the musical score. The hope is for an end of June completion. Inquisition is being chopped away at and the current status is that it should be completely edited by the end of June and then will go over to The Gline to have the score composed for it. Next in line are His Life, Scissors and a re-master of Demento Delivery.

New and Old Productions On Track
With the majority of our time being spent on After Midnight there has not been talk of other projects for quite some time. But, now that we are into summer some old productions and some new ones are starting to be talked about. Production has just begun on Home Is War, the second episode of the Home Wrestling Federation. Creator Dan Gorgone is currently setting up filming days to get this one completed and then out to the fans. Look for some familiar faces from the first episode SmackAround! and some new ones as well. Fated , which was begun last year and has been on hiatus for quite some time is looking to reappear and get filmed later this summer. Writer April Santo has done a complete rewrite of the script. This tale of soul mates and the sacrifices they must make has a lot of people energized and we can't wait to see it get started again. Finally, C.C. Chapman has just announced that he has completed the script and will begin production on Maven shortly. This femme-fatale action movie will contain several new faces as well as a very special prop built for this production by the extremely talented people over at Punch Fred Productions. As well C.C. is hoping to release a soundtrack CD with the movie containing tracks from Matisse, The Blackstone Valley Crew, The Gline and others so stay tuned. Of course there are plenty of other productions in different stages of development that have not been announced yet so you can be sure that there will be more to talk about soon.

"Dirty Cop No Donut" is playing at 11pm at The Den of Cin @ Two Boots, 44 Avenue A (between 3rd and 4th Streets) in NYC in two weeks. Admission is $5. Support the indies and check out a hilarious and disturbing b-movie! Also, watch for other Sub Rosa movies there soon - like "Inbred Rednecks"on July 13!

Sub Rosa Main Offices are hard at work on two new projects. The first, a sci-fi/horror TV anthology has four stories in the works. A second draft of the first story is complete and casting has begun. Outlines are complete on the other three and scripts are now in the works. The second project, a horror comedy, has gone thru a second draft and pre-production will begin soon. Both projects could start shooting as early as July.

Sub Rosa Main has also contracted a filmmaker out in Rochester, NY to shoot another comedy feature. He is currently hard at work on a script based on both his own ideas and an outline from us. More news soon.

Editing continues on "The World vs. Sonny and Gino". About 23 minutes of the movie has been rough edited.

Sub Rosa Midwest has wrapped another fetish/exploitation production - "The Peeping Nun." Look for it on the site now. Meantime, production has begun on another movie, a fantasy/fetish based feature.

Sub Rosa Extreme has wrapped production on two movies that were shot back to back. Both are horror/slasher/gore related. SRX head honcho Eric Stanze reports that the raw footage looks great and he's very excited about the projects. Watch for sneaks peaks < http://www.b-movie.com/sneakpeeks/sneakpeeks.html> on the site once they hit the editing stage.

Sub Rosa Blue has some specific production underway as well. The first, "Peek-A-Boo... Then I Strangle You!" (Swing by < http://www.b-movie.com/sneakpeeks/sneakpeeks.html> for advance pics) is done and awaiting a cover. It's directed by newcomer Claude Blackwell, who'll be making a number of new movies for us in the coming months. In addition, we're working with another newcomer David Sammons on two sci-fi fantasy/fetish productions - "Attack for the 40ft Tall Incredibly Shrinking Women" and "Virtual Voodoo". As opposed to financing on past productions, funds on these are being handled a bit different. We're preselling the titles on the site now. If they generate enough pre-sales, David will green light the projects and shoot them. If not, we'll nix the idea, immediately refund any pre-sales w/o hassle, and David will work out some new ideas. For more info, swing by < http://www.b-movie.com/sneakpeeks/presales.html>.

Gradually, some of these production will start taking on a more "demand" type priority. If you swing by < http://www.b-movie.com/sneakpeeks/presales.html> you'll see that we're encouraging customers to investor or support presales of these movies, and in turn, they can help determine not only what gets made, but what goes into them once they are made. Have a suggestion that'll help you pre-order a copy - then let us know (no promises, and limit one request per project). If we can squeeze it in while not upsetting the flow of the movie, then we'll do it. Got a whole script you want made, then let us know and maybe we can work with you on it. As opposed to making these movies blindly under all these different Studio divisions, we want you to help us better determine what your demand is. And this will apply to all the movies we make - the fetish, the comedies, the gore, the thrillers - under all the studio divisions (Midwest, Blue, Extreme, Cult, etc…) except the main Sub Rosa line. So not seeing what you want out there, then email us and tell us what you want to see and we'll deliver it. That zombie movie you watched recently didn't have enough decapitations? Let us know. Haven't seen a good chainsaw weilding maniac in your horror movies lately? Let us know. Miss the grand ole days of radioactive mutant insect movies? Let us know. Our goal is to make more and more of the movies you want to see.

Back to the Sub Rosa Blue production news, an erotic Vampire (title TBA) movie is set to roll cameras in about two weeks. More news soon.

And Evan Jacobs is starting work for us sometime this summer on some 50's inspired horror flicks. Evan's work might eventually develop into a whole new division for us called Sub Rosa West.

Dream Warriors, Inc. is proud to present: K-Town Cowboyz (www.k-towncowboys.com). "K-Town Cowboys," is a trilogy, each episode is 30 minutes each. When all three are completed, it will be made into a 90 minute feature film. Episode 1: Hyung (Big Brother) - Action: The Brotherhood - Two main Characters Tae and Ed-K meet to form a brotherhood, which is put to the test by harsh elements of K-Town. Episode 2: Eur-ri (Honor) - Drama: The Trials and Tribulations of Tae and Ed-K's brotherhood. Episode 3: Sa-rang (Love) - Love Story: The Fulfillment of a Promise - Power and Money is not all for a man. The ultimate gift is Love.

-MOVIE THEATER FILM FEST UPDATE
In Syracuse, NY, Sept. 15th & 16th, 2001 at the Wescott Movie Theater.

A couple important announcements first:

1) The date of the fest was pushed back one weekend to Saturday and Sunday, 9/15 & 9/16.

2) We have a guest of honor! Sam Sherman of Independent International will be our special guest. Sam has been making movies since the 40's, turning out such beloved cult classics as "Nurse Sherrie", "Dracula vs. Frankenstein", and "Satan's Sadists".

*****The cut off date on entries is growing near. July 1st is the last day we'll take entries - anything received after that date will be automatically submitted in 2002's fest. You have less than a month, so get those entries in!

Pretty much everything is in place for the fest. We'll be showing movies Saturday and Sunday between 8am - 2pm. We may also show films Friday and Saturday night at 11pm. We've discussed the possibility of showing one of Sam's classic flicks to open the festival. The other 11pm movie slot is still open - we'll either slide one of the five finalist for Best Picture in there or show our yearly local production (this year's, it's Jerry O'Sullivan's "Gut Pile"). In between the movies on Saturday and Sunday we'll be showing some shorts, trailers and also allowing for Q&A periods with the filmmaker (if the filmmaker is not there, we'll try and gather some information from him or her and provide it after the showing). A lot depends on the length of the productions that make it to the finals. After the last film on Sunday (around noon), we'll have the fest awards and also announce the inductees into the 2001 B-Movie Hall of Fame.

Since there'll be a lot of time open after the fest each day, we're thinking about setting up places were the filmmakers can get together and chat and so forth. We also might be able to swing some more time for showing the shorts. We'll kind of have to play it by ear for the next few weeks as things develop. At the very least, filmmakers can arrange to meet up for dinner and nightly activities to chat further about movie making and such.

As far as hotel rooms go, we'll be working up a new list this year. We're going to have to trade off distance in most cases for cheaper rooms. Last year, the rooms nearby ran about $75 a night minimum for anything within 5-7 miles. Combined with the travel costs, it was a little tough on some filmmakers. We can find quality rooms for around $35, but it might take 10-15 mins by car to reach them. We should be able to provide you with a variety of choices once done.

The combined entries for shorts, documentaries and features are well over a 100 this year and usually the last month before the cut off doubles that. The entries are incredible this year. Definitely the best yet. It will make it very hard to judge this time around. The festival will also be getting some great coverage - besides local TV and print press, we've gotten coverage in major newspapers in just about every major city, and have even had results printed in the USA Today, E! Online and TV Guide Online. Filmmakers have often reported back to me that they have made great connections both at the festival and via the net thanks to their submission to the festival. This is definitely a good fest for networking as well drawing attention to your motion picture work.

OBITUARIES

Deborah Walley
The actress best known for her breakthrough role as the quirky beach bunny, Gidget, Deborah Walley, has died following a battle with cancer. She was 57. Walley was everywhere when the beach movie craze swept America in the 1960s, appearing in films such as "Gidget Goes Hawaiian," "Beach Blanket Bingo," "Ghost in the Invisible Bikini" and "It's a Bikini World." She also performed opposite Elvis Presley in the King's 1966 film, "Spinout." In 1967, Walley appeared in director Arch Oboler's low-budget science-fiction film, "The Bubble," also known as "The Fantastic Invasion of Planet Earth." The same year, she landed a regular role on the television sitcom, "The Mothers-In-Law."

Walley's personal Website -- http://www.deborahwalley.com -- featuring photos and biographical information, kept fans apprised of her ongoing battle with illness and provided a forum for her to express her gratitude for their devotion. "I want to thank all of you who have sent so many prayers, letters, e-mails, gifts, and contributions," read the most recent update. "All the love you are sending me is making me better every day ... I am doing well, my faith and resolve have not wavered. They tell me that this is probably the greatest battle I will ever fight, but I know that with my determination and all of the love I am receiving I will have everything I will need to win. I am truly blessed, and I hold you all in my heart."

Ken Hughes
British film director Ken Hughes has died of complications from Alzheimer's disease. He was 79. Hughes wrote and directed the 1968 fantasy film hit "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" based on Ian Fleming's children's book about a flying car. The previous year he'd co-directed the star-studded James Bond film "Casino Royale," which featured Peter Sellers, David Niven, Orson Welles, Ursula Andress and Woody Allen. (His co-director was Val "The Quatermass Xperiment" Guest.) Hughes may be better known to cult-movie aficionados for the 1956 sci-fi film "Timeslip," also known as "The Atomic Man," which starred Gene Nelson and Faith Domergue.

Douglas Adams
Author Douglas Adams, best known as the creator of the cult science-fiction comedy "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy,'' has died following a heart attack. He was 49. The "Guide" began life as a radio series broadcast by the BBC in 1978. It was later made into a television series and the companion book sold 14 million copies. Combining satire and sci-fi, the series addressed philosophical issues through quirky characters with names such as Zaphod Beeblebrox and Marvin the Paranoid Android. Adams started out as a writer and script editor for the British Broadcasting Corp., working on programs such as the BBC's cult-favorite, "Doctor Who.'' For the last several years, he had been working on a big-screen adaptation of the "Hitchhiker's Guide." Jason Miller
Actor, playwright Jason Miller has died of a heart attack at 62. The actor was nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Father Damien Karras in the horror blockbuster "The Exorcist," released in 1973. It was a banner year for Miller, who also completed his Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "That Championship Season," which ran for 700 Broadway performances and went on to win a Tony Award. In "The Exorcist," Miller made an enduring impression as the troubled, brooding priest who leaps to his death after inviting Satan to leave the body of Linda Blair and take him as its vessel. Miller made only sporadic film appearances thereafter, including a cameo in an "Exorcist" sequel. Among his survivors are his son, actor Jason Patric.
