The new guy over at Todd Sheets' Extreme Entertainment, Ari Bavil, recently sent me the following note on this Fall's releases.

"Welcome to Extreme Entertainment! We deliver the groceries. No cut-aways, no pulled punches. When we say, "It'll rip your guts out," we MEAN it!

The Fall of 2000 is jam-packed with Extreme Horror! We are about to announce two new releases, and production has already begun on the Extreme Team's latest effort. This one promises to shock and astound as Todd Sheets' SAY IT AGAIN breaks the boundaries of film genre. Call it a crime drama, call it a comedy, call it an action picture. You'd be right and wrong on all accounts. This one is a sure-fire hit in the making. But we get ahead of ourselves. Let's look at the Fall 2000 slate of Extreme hits.

ZOMBIE BLOODBATH 3

The third in the Zombie Bloodbath series is the most ambitious yet. High school students locked away for a Saturday detention by a perverted principal skip out for adventure and get more than they bargained for. Zombie warriors FROM OUR OWN FUTURE invade the Earth and these anger-amplified adolescents are mankind's only hope for survival. It looks grim indeed until our bitchy Breakfast Bunch are joined by film action heroes Mack Brazzle and Durville Sweet. Can the two 70's blaxploitation stars keep the turbulent teens together long enough to fight the zombie hordes? Only TIME will tell.

THE CATACOMBS

The haunted house movie to end all haunted house movies. A college Psych. professor invites horror industry professionals from around the country to participate in a weekend experiment designed to test the limits of fear. Mack and Durville return, but will they survive when an ancient horror is released and threatens to devour humanity?

Sounds familiar? OK. How about a haunted house movie filmed in a commercial haunted house? Not spooky enough for you? How about a haunted house movie filmed in a commercial haunted house that's REALLY HAUNTED? Genuine cold spots, spectral images (some of which made it into the final cut of the film), and doors which open and close themselves are just a few of the strange occurrences which accompanied the production of this film. Murder and suicide in the building's former life as a warehouse have produced phenomena that haunt the cast even today.

The producers of 'PARTY CRASHER', the debut horror movie from writer/director Mark Mason, have announced an exciting screenwriting competition in conjunction with the video release of 'PARTY CRASHER' in over 1800 Hollywood Video stores throughout the US. The film was released by The Asylum as part of their "First Rites" series showcasing new and emerging film talent.

"Everyone is excited about the relationship with The Asylum, and we're looking forward to starting pre-production on the sequel," said Mason. "To that end, we're giving everyone a chance to contribute and write the sequel." Beginning October 31, 2000, the producers are accepting screenplays from horror fans and screenwriters alike who think they can write a great 'PARTY CRASHER 2'.

Those interested in submitting a screenplay are encourage to view 'PARTY CRASHER' before putting pen to paper. "We want the sequel to stay within the bounds we have already established. We're definitely willing to add new character, to push the envelope, but we can't spend a week shooting on a cruise ship or take the whole production on a cross-country trek. Remember we're a small company." 'PARTY CRASHER' was filmed on 16mm with a budget of $100,000. "We managed to put most of our money on screen, and it shows. Everything we learned on the first one will only make the sequel that much better," said Mason.

The producers are also accepting demo reels from anyone interested in working on the sequel in a technical capacity. "If someone blows us away with their demo, why wouldn't we want them working with us? We'll give a serious look to anyone with a passion for movies and the process of making movies regardless of their experience or location," Mason said. Positions potentially open include director of photography, lighting director, sound, and gaffer to name a few.

'PARTY CRASHER' tells the story of Henry Primo who is unknowingly drugged at his sixteenth birthday party. The next morning, he awakes from a hangover to discover seven of his classmates are dead, and he's locked away for the crimes. Fifteen years later, he's released to the custody of his parents. They only want their son back... the son they lost fifteen years earlier. But Henry has changed. He refuses to speak and only communicates in writing. He seems harmless, but is he? During his time alone, Henry developed amazing powers. He's a case study in ESP and Mental Telepathy. He remembers everything he touches, hears, and sees. And most astonishingly, he knows what everyone is thinking, but no one knows what's on his mind...REVENGE.

Underground legend Mark Pirro recently updated his website with the following news items.

"The colorization of COLOR-BLINDED pretty much completed. I say pretty much because I will probably continue to tweak it as I become more skilled and improvements in software develop. In any event, it's ready for the world...again. We'll continue to work on getting a decent DVD distribution deal and will post any information here.

"I've hesitated making this announcement and I'm still not making it "official," but it's looking more and more like the next Pirromount film will be RECTUMA. Remember that one? The giant butt that terrorizes Tokyo? Thanks to today's technology, it would be an easier film to make than when it was first thought up ten years ago. I've been working on the script and it looks like it's taking shape. The creature will probably be a combination of computer graphics, blue screen, models and the real thing (I shudder to think of the auditions). We will be looking for Japanese actors and actresses for this one: so if you're Japanese, Chinese, or just have slanty eyes, send us a head shot."

The crew at Random Foo "are very happy to let you know that on Saturday, September 30, our television show Fade to Black added another feather to its cap by premiering on Everett Cable Television in Everett, Massachusetts. The programming director liked the show so much, he gave the show two spots in their new fall lineup: Wednesday nights at 11:00pm, and the coveted post-Saturday-Night-Live time slot (Saturday nights at 12:30am).

"After three months of filming, ETERNAL is finally coming to a close. One final scene remains to be filmed and the hope is that it will all be done before the Foo gang heads to Florida for Jason Santo & April Cresey's wedding at the end of the month.

"Another major project for us is finally coming close to completion as well. The first feature length film to be seriously attempted by Foo is close to being in the can. KILROY WAS HERE has been filming almost every Sunday this summer. This past weekend the crucial ending was re- shot to incorporate some needed changes to the story. This scene will go down in Foo history as the first scene filmed completely using a "blue screen." The hope is to have a trailer for the film in a few weeks and it looks like it is still on target for an end of the year premier."

This Wicked Pixel Cinema compilation of music videos and surreal short films, THE SEVERED HEAD NETWORK, is now available! Highlights of this shorts compilation are Chad Eivins's shocking and bizarre VOMIRE, Tommy Biondo's sexual and surrealistic SATISFACTION, and the Emmy award-winning CURVEBALL: PILE OF JUNK, directed by Jason Christ and starring Eric Stanze.

Eric Stanze is still typing like a madman on the TEMPEST OF THE DAWN screenplay. Wicked Pixel Cinema is in the very early stages of researching financing for this motion picture. At this point, it looks like shooting may begin late summer 2002.

THE SEVERED HEAD NETWORK Volume Two will most likely be assembled within he first half of 2001. Brimstone Productions in New York had invited Eric Stanze to direct a segment of a werewolf anthology for release to home video. The Stanze-directed Wicked Pixel Cinema production would have been a 30 minute werewolf story, featured in the anthology alongside two or more other segments created by other directors. Unfortunately, Stanze has left the anthology project due to scheduling difficulties and also to devote more time to the TEMPEST OF THE DAWN project.

"SANDMAN" ACTOR TERRY J. LIPKO DEAD AT AGE 37
According to the Akron Beacon Journal, law enforcement officers found the body of Terry J. Lipko, 37, on Sunday September 17 in his overturned pickup truck off U.S. 224 in Deerfield Township, Ohio - just a stone's throw from the former Tempe headquarters in Mogadore. Lipko, who portrayed the whacky sidekick "Bud" in THE SANDMAN, was pronounced dead at the accident scene in a heavily wooded area where the body was concealed for six days. J.R. Bookwalter, who directed the actor in SANDMAN, calls Lipko's death "a damn shame. Terry was a very gifted guy, full of a lot of talent and energy and he really brought some great humor to his role. He will be missed by everyone who participated in that show." The full details of the accident will not be known for about four weeks, pending the results of an autopsy. In the years since his involvement with Tempe, Lipko had moved to Orlando, Florida where he continued to pursue his acting career and had only recently moved back to Boardman, a small town outside of Youngstown, Ohio where much of SANDMAN had been filmed.

"WITCHOUSE 2" HITS THE STREETS
Tempe fans lamenting the absence of product from our company can rest easy as Full Moon Pictures' WITCHOUSE 2: BLOOD COVEN hits stores today on VHS and special edition DVD. Check out FANGORIA #197 for a preview of the film in the Monster Invasion column, or zap over to fandom.com for John Thonen's interview with director J.R. Bookwalter. And the reviews are starting to come in!

"HORRORVISION" WRAPS, "STITCHES" IN PRODUCTION
As we reported last month, our first Tempe-branded production since 1997's BLOODLETTING is HORRORVISION, coming from Full Moon Pictures in January, 2001. This effort from debut director Danny Draven recently wrapped production and is on the fast track in post-production. Look for the official website, going online in the next few weeks! Meanwhile, two weeks after the HORRORVISION wrap, the Tempe team moved into production on STITCHES, the feature directorial debut of Neal Marshall Stevens from a screenplay by Benjamin Carr. The tale of a little old lady who steals the souls of the residents of a 1920's-era boarding house is being lensed by Brad Rushing (SHRIEKER) and will make its home video debut in February, 2001. The same producing team of J.R. Bookwalter, Chuck Williams and Ariauna Albright have returned for this show, which stars Elizabeth Ince, Debra Mayer (BLOOD DOLLS), Robert Donovan and a featured role by WITCHOUSE 2's Kaycee Shank. David Barton's Modus EFX are again at the helm of the creepy special effects.

Random Foo Productions recently sent out their monthly newsletter detailing the current state of their productions. The following items are taken directly form the newsletter.

Jay Santo's latest project, HIS LIFE, wrapped production recently. This story starring Roman Berman as a young man dealing with his past and immediate future now enters the very crowded post production arena (more on this in a minute).

Production on ETERNAL has been underway for quite some time now. It is looking now that production will wrap by the end of October. Since the last newsletter we've posted many new screenshots on the website. As well, we were graced by photographer extraordinaire Claire Folger on the set one day and she took some amazing photos.

KILROY WAS HERE has been filming every weekend this summer and is quickly approaching completion. This story of a man dealing with what makes him happy is definitely something new for Foo. Plus, this marks the first successful attempt at a feature length film for us. A trailer is currently being edited and writer/director/editor Mike Amato has been editing the film as it is being filmed so the post production time will be minimal.

With so many projects wrapping up, the ever-crowded post-production is getting even busier. Currently in some state of post production are INQUISITION, SYKES TANGENT AND THE ANGEL OF DEATH, HIS LIFE, THE MIND'S EYE, HOW TO MAKE THE ONE YOU LOVE RUN, VOICES OF REASON, and PHASE III. Thankfully our third editing station is now online so the hope is that we can clear out some of these projects before the end of the year.

Because it's against our nature to sit still for very long we of course have many projects on the horizon. Biggest of these would be FATED, which has begun production and will continue into the winter. Also on the horizon is the highly anticipated ABSOLUTE PRECISION, which will bring back Foo-favorites Elliot Brock and William Campbell.

The tapes feature some of our sexiest actresses including Tina Krause, Deana, Dawn Murphy, Marina Morgan, Debbie D, and Dakota.

Video Outlaw has just released a new Misty Mundae tape: SNUFF STRANGLER.

Usually I'm not to hip to my competition, but I can't really diss a fellow Mormon. B-Move list moderator, Nathan Shumate, sent me the following note on the status of his website, www.b-mania.com/.

"As you may have heard through other sources, I've pulled the plug on B-Mania.com, which was the review archive for the b-movie mailing list. I was HTMLing at least a dozen reviews a week, and it was cutting into my own time for reviewing and other writing projects (not to mention sleep).

"In its place, I've created Cold Fusion Video Reviews (http://www.coldfusionvideo.com), which is solely for my own reviews. I'll be posting usually two new reviews every week, with special theme month "festivals" four times a year.

"If you're a subscriber of the b-movie mailing list, you'll get my weekly bulletins. If not, and you're interested, you can subscribe to my updates by sending a blank e-mail to coldfusionvideo-subscribe@egroups.com.

"Also, I'm always looking for movies to review, so if you want to send your films for a frank and honest review (Max Cerchi can vouch for my brutal honesty), please e-mail me at nathanshumate@networld.com to get my mailing address."

Leslie Culton was nice enough to recently share a few of the things she's been up to recently. Look for her the upcoming films THE SEEKERS from Director John Bowker, THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED from Dead Alive Productions. Also, Leslie says she "was just in Femme Fatales Magazine last issue, and completed a part in ANDEE AGONY'S TORTURE TALES for B-King Jeff Dylan Graham, this anthology also features my friend Countess Lilith Stabbs (from VAMPIRE CALLGIRLS and DEMONATRIX ).
