SWEET HEARTS AND SAVAGES
By Bob L. Morgan, Jr.
D.G. Publishing
Exe-Book
$4.00Bob Morgan (Blood and Rain) is back…well a few steps back. Morgan released an Exe-book of his 90's shorts that have graced the zines and the Internet; a best of if you will. Here you will find a handful of short stories and a novella.
A closet homosexual tries to break up with his wife, but her head stays with him "Forever and Always."
An obsessive psycho tries to win a girl over with "Roses."
A group of trash, dope dealers have a violent night "While Cruising."
A power fucker goes out "Hunting" and meets his match.
A loving couple crashes their car in a horrible accident and receives a "Gift" from the spirit world.
A truck stop hooker tries to get close to a trucker but finds out he is not "A Nice Guy" like she assumed.
Finally, two young, low-life lovers try to get out of the desert ghetto in "Ballad of Maria Valdez."
If you are a fan of "Blood and Rain" then you might be caught off guard with this collection. Although, they are dark, they also show a wider range and a deeper voice of Morgan that he was not able to express with his first novel. The tales speed by into the wildly entertaining to the deepest black to the terribly sad.
The only problem I have with this book is that it had to end.
Damn!
