A young man named Jason is going though the motions of a broken engagement. Through the motions, he suffers from weird dreams. Jason dreams of killing vicious warriors with his lance and meeting beautiful girls who gracing him with their charms. Sounds normal?

Well, it is not. Snap out of it. This is serious business.

Jason is sucked into the dream world that turns out to be a real planet called Praesepe a billion miles from Earth; a planet filled with medieval royalty, slaves, warriors, monsters, wizards, and sex.

But not everything is peachy on this planet. There is a twisted scenario of sibling rivalry. Three siblings: Charni, the princess; Larni, the younger sister; and Khuramani; the older bother. Khuramani is in cahoots with the Evil Ones from another world, and the only way he can bring them into their world is to rape and mutilate his virgin sister Charni on an alter her while the planets are aligned.

So begins Jason's adventure in protecting Charni and keeping her away from the evil older brother. There are plenty of battles, sex, and jiggling slaves to keep Dad happy. There are some interesting theories concerning modern technology from Earth and fantasy magic mixing about, but Brooker doesn't seem to follow through with it. Perhaps they will be more in the other books.

This book is long-winded. In a sense, Jason 'fucks' Khuramani's plan early in the book with out even knowing he's doing it, but Brooker has many ideas for adventure and demand that the story keeps going.

There are some great moments of demented camp: The scene where Khuramani is penetrating Charni on the altar and Jason is letting him go through with it only because he knows that Charni is not a virgin anymore. For a human, Jason sure isn't bothered by incest, then again, neither is Charni.

So, this begins an adventure of 6 books. So far, it seems like it is off to a bad start, but who knows. Brooker has nowhere to go but up.
