A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of reviewing Tim Ritter’s DIRTY COP, NO DONUT. It is always interesting to view a filmmaker’s early work and see how he has grown and improved over the years. You can see the roots of DIRTY COP in the 1995 release CREEP. Over the years Ritter has come along way in terms of style and seems to have nurtured a rather cynical outlook of the world around him

What I really enjoyed about this movie is the depths to which it sinks to find new levels of exploitative sleaze. As with DIRTY COP, Tim Ritter likes to show the complete dregs of society. There isn’t a single redeeming character to be found anywhere.

The plot revolves around jailed convict Angus Lynch portrayed by the wonderful Joel Wynkoop and his stripper sister Kascha Lords portrayed by “America’s Favorite Nymphomaniac” Kathy Willets. After a surprisingly well executed escape from jail, Angus seeks out his sister. The two have a special bond. They were forced by their parents to perform sex acts on one another while being video taped. After all, “mommy needs another fix.” This has left the two slightly off center in their adult years. Angus alone is reported to have killed almost 300.

There is a scene right after the happy reunion that is one of the funniest I’ve seen put to video and completely captures the tone of the film. The two have returned home from Kascha’s work only to have Kascha humiliated by her domineering boyfriend. Dear brother Angus doesn’t like this and works the guy over.

“What did you do?” Kascha asks.

“I stabbed him,” replies Angus

“Thank you.”

“That’s what are big brothers are for, sis.”

Angus’ story is paralleled by that of a Dirty Harriet styled policewoman, Jackie Ketchum (get it??). As a young girl, Jackie witnessed her mother’s killing by a mugger and vows to eliminate crime. After her police chief father is killed by Angus, Jackie vows to bring him in.

There were times as I watched this movie that I wanted to turn it off. I started to feel dirty just sitting there. It’s been along time since any film had that effect on me. CREEP wears its sleaziness as if it were a war medal. It doesn’t disappoint in terms of delivering the goods. Graphic gore and extremely explicit nudity line the film from beginning to end. If that is what you are into I highly suggest you check it out.
