In the courtroom, Mike Hathaway has one big pain in the ass. None other than Joan Alton who manages to win every case she brings to the court to butt heads with Mike. Out of the courtroom, however, things are a different matter. Mike and Joan are entangled in an affair. When Mike goes home to his little wife she confronts him with the evidence. Enraged, Mike leaves the house and goes to a local titty bar. And you have got to wonder. If this guy has a wife, a mistress and still has the energy to go to a titty bar then maybe he's missing his calling. The porn industry can always use a few insatiable men. anyway, Mike gets picked up in the bar and is taken to a motel room where he has sex with a mysterious blonde.

This illustrates that this is a work of fiction. Because we all know the chances of getting picked up in a strip club without having to pay up front first. Being a high price lawyer seems to have made Mike retarded so he goes along and wakes up in the morning to find himself alone after his wife was been murdered while he was getting his jollies. Of course, the unknown blonde is missing and the people that saw them together last night either aren't talking or are turning up dead. Now it's up to his mistress to find out the truth and free her lover. I found it a little surprising that she'd go to these lengths. After all, he was banging some blonde bimbo when his wife was getting whacked. Seems that Joan should be a little miffed at her boyfriend's wild ways. Then again, by the end of the movie she's far from being pure as the driven snow herself.

I guess DEVIANT OBSESSION puzzles me a bit. No one in the entire film has any sense of commitment. The ending seems ludicrous, but does wrap everything up pretty well. I hadn't seen Brick Randall since her title role in THE EROTIC RITES OF COUNTESS DRACULA. She looked better as a vampire. In DEVIANT she seems a little worn down. I was almost convinced that this was one of those porn films that they cut all the porn out of to sell to cable. I did some checking and sure enough, it was never porn. That's kind of a shame because some hard-core action would have given the film a little more believability. As it stands now it's just another entry in the erotic thriller sub genre that you would swear should have run out of steam years ago.

Unfortunately, it hasn't, subjecting us to yet another excuse to see how much silicone will fit on the screen. The answer, in case you were wondering, is a lot. In the end, if you're looking for some severe softcore action on a lonely night, this is the movie for you. If erotic thrillers give you hives, then pass on this one.
