First things first:

I love the X-Files. Spent 9 years watching the show.

I love Fan-films. Fans tend to be more loving towards the source material.

I hate Star Wars. That's "hate" with a capital "H" and a capital "ATE".

Was it Meatloaf who once said "two out of three ain't bad?" I can't remember. Sometimes I wish I could smoke whatever it was that Meatloaf was smoking back in the day.

And in a ham-handed segue, two out of three would be the case with X-FILES: JEDI ORPHAN if only director Matt Carollo had taken the time to complete the movie. Not only is the production marred by bad editing (static shots with the director shouting "action"), but there's no story, or at least no completed story.

JEDI ORPHAN is a 4 minute prologue to what could be 3 different movies. Whether it's about the murder of the orphan's parents or the orphans adventures on the lam or Mully and Scolder's search for the truth is entirely up to Carollo. Whatever story he decides to follow up on is one I wouldn't mind seeing, but as it stands, X-FILES: JEDI ORPHAN feels disrespectful of the source material, not caring enough to develop anything worthwhile.

Since the movie isn't really about anything, and doesn't say anything, it's hard to review. I'm sure fans of the X-Files and Star Wars will seek it out of curiosity, I just hope they find a completed work when they do.
