Seduction Cinema has been on a roll recently. The label has been releasing socially relevant erotica akin to seminal works from the 1970's, ROXANNA and WITCHBABE being to prime examples. When not invoking the Spirit of Soft-core Past, Seduction Cinema also releases a number of goofy-ball erotic parodies including GLADIATOR EROTICUS and PLAYMATE OF THE APES. While not as interesting as the more socially aware works, the parodies have a certain charm that makes them enjoyable.

MY VAMPIRE LOVER belongs to a third category of Seduction titles, one that I was hoping had died a slow death with THE VAMPIRE'S SEDUCTION. Neither humorous or serious, these films are failed attempts at creating inspired erotic entertainment. The result is something akin to porno in that there's very little connecting the sex sequences other than pointless "wanna do me" banter.

The real charm of the Seduction titles stem from the girls themselves, something lost of director George Freeway. Most of the gals understand the joke and have fun with what they're going. They are sexual goofballs which may very well be the secret to their stardom. Case in point, Darian Caine, perhaps the first true erotic comedian. Darian isn't afraid of humiliating herself in order to give the audience a good laugh. Her turn in MY VAMPIRE LOVER as a plumber is the movie's only true delight.

Fans of the other main Seduction Starlets will be disappointed. While regulars like Misty Mundae and Esmerelda DeLarocca are present and accounted for, this is a showcase for some of the newer talent, most of whom I'm not familiar with, nor do I find them charismatic enough to bother remembering them. Perhaps in the future some of these girls will loosen up before the camera and decide to have some fun. Viewers feel it when the stars look bored.
