It is a time when the Gods of Old are being forced out by the onslaught of Christianity. The High Preistess Shira is doing her royal duty to guard the princesses of the noble fathers of the land. As long as they are under her protection they are safe from the ravages of the flesh by anyone.

Then the king is dead and his son takes over the realm. Unbeknownst to anyone the new king is drugged and under the control of his evil sister Briana. She sends her men to the lair of Shira to take all the princesses by force. Kidnapped and forced into slavery, the princesses are soon doing menial labor in the silver mine that Briana uses to pay her hordes to protect her kingdom.

Meanwhile she has an agenda in which her brother will impregnate all the princesses to start a new master race of soldiers to take the place of the mercenaries when the supply of silver runs out. What Briana didn't realize is that Shira doesn't take her duties lightly. Soon it is woman vs. woman to the death to try and stop the treacherous machinations of the evil Briana.

Originally this film was saddled with the title of CHAINED SINNERS; MEDIEVAL FLESHPOTS. It also had the alternative title of SINS OF THE REALM. Now we get it as SLAVES OF THE REALM. Personally, I would have gone with the first one. The title is more exploitative than the others and liable to attract an bigger crowd. But, the producers have an ace in the hole. Reno Mero, or as she is probably more well known, Sable of the WWE. Sable had been a wrestler many moons ago when it was the WWF and she has recently been added to the roster of WWE SMACKDOWN, where she plays a conniving bitch. Nothing like the character of Shira who is a little wooden, but dedicated to her duties as high priestess. Just by the sheer number of wrestling fans out there this title should make a pretty penny.

The plotline is paper thin and to pad it out we get two things. Boobies and silver mining. In fact we are led through the repetitive process of silver mining so many times that anyone watching this film could open a reputable silver mine in no time at all. Like the energizer bunny it just keeps going and going and going.........

Of course since the mining is done by well developed women wearing next to nothing and getting sweaty in the process, the mining scenes, while tedious, are awfully easy on the eyes. This leads me to another observation of this film. I would have to assume that it's the director's fault, but there are a lot of chest shots in this film. And I don't just mean the unclad variety. I'm talking scantily clad, fully clad. We get fully armored shots. There are even shots when there is obviously some kind of action going on in the shot but we just get titties. This guy is as bad as Jess Franco who professes that he finds it hard not to zoom in on a woman's pubic area during filming. As Franco says, "I can't help it, that's where my eye wanders to." Well it seems that Mr. Simandl has the same problem with a different region, boobies. If you were to remove the mining scenes and all the unnecessary chest shots the running time of 99 minutes would probably dwindle down to 20 minutes, 25 minutes tops.

This doesn't stop the film from working. It delivers what it promises and the added exploitative value of Sable will make this a well received film. It's kind of a throwback to the time after Arnold Schwarzenegger made the first CONAN film. Not as good as the BEASTMASTER but a damned sight better than ATOR with Miles O'Keefe.

Oh, and why did I include the entire cast of credits. I figured that if these people were willing to be in this they should have to be revealed to the world.
