It was bound to happen - a softcore spoof of the CBS hit CSI. At least it's Seduction Cinema doing the spoof; their comedic spins on cinematic hits are some of the more enjoyable erotic efforts to be released during the last decade. Sadly, their more recent releases have been increasingly generic - little more than run-of-the-mill late-night cable fare rather than the uniquely (and pleasantly) goofy affairs of the past. Seduction Cinema's SSI: SEXY SQUAD INVESTIGATION is a return to classic form for these purveyors of no-budget skin-flicks.

First off, I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that his review is for the R-rated version of the movie. Those generally looking for skin in this sort of movie will see the brief bouncing breasts of roughly 8-10 ladies. It feels like there's more missing, but fortunately those that purchase the "R" version can upgrade to the unrated for free. Hopefully, those that do will fill us in one what were missing via the B-Independent messageboards. I'm curious to read about the difference. Often, as was the case with LORD OF THE G-STRINGS, the different cuts are two completely different movies.

Secondly, and this is nothing new, John Fedele steals the show. As is pointed out in virtually every B-Indi review for Seduction titles, Fedele has this amazing comic ability that somehow commands your attention no matter how many naked girls are getting it on during the scene. It's either some sort of cosmic magic, or Seduction Cinema has laced their videos with subliminal hypnosis that causes viewers to laugh at whatever he's doing. Case in point, the opening moments of SSI. Fedele is walking through a graveyard, mourning profusely. As he cries his eyes out, I'm laughing hysterically at the comedic melodrama.

Fedele's foil this time around is A.J. Kahn, who has always come across as the most articulate of the Seduction gals. In the last year or so of releases, Kahn seems to have moved up from supporting sex partner to leading lady. She possesses all the charm, charisma, and sex appeal that helped Erin Brown rise as Misty Mundae. Like both Darian Caine and Erin, Kahn isn't afraid to be the butt of jokes. It's that sense of humor that always set Seduction Cinema talent and movies apart from all other softcore efforts.

The story concerns President George Shrub's recently passed law that prevents pre-marital sex. Fedele is the leader of a team that tracks down sexual violators. Recently partnered with Kahn, Fedele is on the trail of serial seducer who plans to sleep with the President's daughter. Sexy hijinks ensue. As usual, the most fun parts surround the neutered Fedele and his troubled past as a Vietnam vet and a Jennifer Beals wanna-be.

On a technical level, SSI looks and sounds far superior to other recent shot-on-video erotic efforts, including those coming from California, the skinamatic capital of America.

The dvd for SSI contains a director commentary and a bloopers reel. Also included is a second half-hour short titled THE FBI GUYS, an early effort from Mike Raso and Fedele.
