Jim Wynorsky has been called one of the worst directors working today. I think his work isn’t that bad, at least as far as Roger Corman stock directors are concerned. Too bad this one doesn’t have the tongue in cheek quality like his earlier efforts. Chopping Mall and Return of the Swamp Thing are both fun, little movies.

The premise if basic, three girls and a male guide go off into the Rocky Mountains in search of a local legend, The Bare Wench. Along the way, the women become possessed by the spirit of the Bare Wench, and roll around naked. Every so often, the filmmakers try to throw in some comedy, which always falls flat.

That’s pretty much it. The sex is tame and the jokes are lame. It’s a pretty boring exercise that is just trying to cash in TBW.

Like TBW, the actresses are allowed to be themselves on camera. 9 times out 10 they come across as complete airheads. This isn’t always a bad thing, it does provide a few unintentionally funny moments, especially in scenes involving Lorissa McComas, a young lady ready to get naked at the drop of a nickel (all the other girls wait for the dime). At least she comes across as a good-natured bimbo, while the others are just bitchy and annoying.
