VAMPIRE OBSESSION is something rare from Seduction Cinema, a completely serious, and often disturbing, work of erotic cinema. While it doesn't reach the unsettling levels of emotional cruelty found in Donald Farmer's VAMPIRE OF NOTRE DAME (soon to be released by Seduction Cinema as AN EROTIC VAMPIRE IN PARIS), VAMPIRE OBSESSION is still unnerving in its own right as it dwells on themes detailing all-consuming love to the point of addiction and, like the title says, obsession.

Seduction Cinema newcomer Anoushka is Wendy, a gorgeous prostitute living with her girlfriend played by Seduction regular Darian Cain. This is a rare role for Darian who once said that her favorite Seduction Cinema character was MISTRESS FRANKENSTEIN because she got to be a big goofball, something she considers herself to be in real life. After Wendy is taken under the wing of Alexis, played by Jade DuBoir, Darian's characters is sent into a complete emotional breakdown by the lose of her lover. Those used to seeing Darian ham it up will be amazed at the level of rage and pain she's able to bring forth.

Just as Darian's character (who is never named) is completely obsessed with Wendy, Wendy becomes so with Alexis. Where Darian was consumed with love and devotion, Wendy succumbs to the taste of vampiric eroticism. Her hunger for Alexis grows past obsession to full on addiction. At one point Alexis even goes so far as to prep Wendy's arm to receive a surgical needle filled with blood exactly as if she were a heroin junkie cooking up a fix.

I find the serious direction that Seduction Cinema is taking with movies such as VAMPIRE OBSESSION, VAMPIRE OF NOTRE DAME, THE EROTIC MIRROR, and the recent remake of ROXANNE fascinating. The company has built a reputation on humorous softcore parodies that while fun were void of any real depth. Films like GLADIATOR EROTICVS and THE EROTIC WITCH PROJECT served their purpose as cash cows, but did little to explore the eroticism mentioned in their respective titles. Relationships are given depth and the ramifications of the character's actions are being explored. Both the filmmakers and the company are willing to take chances and grow as filmmakers.

The DVD version of the film is about average for a Seduction title. You have the standard trailer vault and a single behind the scenes featurette depicting the lighthearted atmosphere on the set. The featurettes have always been my favorite part of any Seduction Cinema presentation. The actresses are likable and carefree, and never the sexually over-fulfilled love-demons they play. They are just gals with a capriciously trash-talking naivete about what they are doing, which just happens to be getting naked for thousands of horny fans who have come to love them as the girls next door.
