(While I don't like to post sales-oriented news, every visitor to the site knows I'm a sucker for charity events)

There is no question which is the dog and which is the lady in each of the thirteen pictures on the Superior Mutts Doggie Rescue's fundraising poster. Scream Queens Debbie Rochon, Hollie Winnard, and ten other beautiful ladies posed for pictures with their pooches and other animals to raise money for pets in need of adoption. Every poster sold helps to support Superior Mutts' shelter and rescue resource in College Park, Fla.

Independent director Jason Liquori worked with Christopher Murphy, who operates Superior Mutts, to create an 11x17 four-color poster that shows the sweet and sexy side of a coven of beautiful actresses that include legendary scream queens Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens and Julie Strain as well as up-and-comers Sacha Crutchfield, Brunilda Zetki and Brittany Messina. Liquori says, "It's great to bring it [the poster] to conventions because with all the ladies on one item it's easy to collect autographs without carrying a lot of stuff." The director of THE LUNAR PACK, and the just announced ALL WRAPPED UP adds, "These lovely ladies will be sure to smile when they see that their fans have helped save a superior dog or cat."

Ms. Rochon has done more than 100 independent films and was named ?Scream Queen of the Decade? in 2002 by Draculina readers. She recently appeared with Winnard and Murphy in Liquori?s new collection of shorts, Death Plots.

Posters are available at www.superiormutts.com for a $10 donation to Superior Mutts (add $2 for shipping).

When pressed for plot information, Smart describes it by saying that "Rhonda (Moskowitz), a forty-something lesbian, picks up Holly (Park) in a city park. They become lovers and Rhonda introduces her to her world of recreating bizarre sexual murders involving strangulation culled from her own mother's untimely death and from accounts from True Detective Magazines. Holly resists admitting the true nature of her desires while Rhonda presses for complete accord in their desires. The scenarios become more intense and ultimately result in tragedy. A dark erotic romance, fetish video and psychological thriller.

Cheap Jersey Video, Inc. presents THE DRUNKEN DEAD GUY, starring TOM DUDA, BILL HINZMAN, TINA KRAUSE, AL ASARNOV, RAY JOHNSTON, BOB SMITH, TATTOO, JOHN GREFF, and J.B. Written by TOM DUDA and JOHN GREFF. Edited, produced, and directed by JOHN GREFF.

Greff says that THE DRUNKEN DEAD GUYS "is the story of Tom, an advertising contractor with an empty, gray existence, as cold as his commute to work through the concrete. After an untimely death, he enjoys the comforts of Heaven, but a wrongly perceived crises (God doesn't understand that the Devils are a hockey team) results in the need for a miracle. Tom is the unlucky choice to be risen up to fight the Devils. Unfortunately, Heaven botches the job and Tom is a rotting corpse. The only solution is for him to drink a lot of alcohol to preserve himself. The side effect is that he gets intoxicated."

Greff continues "broadcast on WCJT-57 Elizabeth, NJ, THE DRUNKEN DEAD GUY is a made-at-home, shot-on-VHS comedy with no budget and no crew. The 'sets' are like a tour of the living rooms of New Jersey. The audio, including the musical instruments, were recorded with the camcorder microphone. Yet, through all this lack of equipment and production, the large cast of no-names show themselves to be talented comedic actors, especially Tom Duda in the title role. Add to this the writing team of Tom Duda and (myself), together with John's inspired editing and directing (and his silly music) and you have an enjoyable unique movie that had no business coming together so well. Plus, the movie is graced by zombie legend Bill Hinzman's monumental performance, a couple of very funny scenes with B-movie major talent Tina Krause, and 2 surprise cameos.

Movie Seals Productions, in collaboration with Critical Mass Releasing, begins preproduction on the sequel to their award winning sci-fi/action film RECON 2020: THE CAPRINI MASSACRE.

RECON 2022: THE MEZZO CONSPIRACY, picks up two years after the events of the first film and introduces a new cast of characters as well as bringing back familiar ones. After the gruesome events on Caprini, Sharp and his elite team of tough space Marines must now head out to the icy planet Mezzo to investigate further Ma'har activities. What they will discover there defies imagination: giant snow worms, an underground cyborg city, and maybe, finally, a glimpse of the ever elusive Ma'hars.

Anderson Bradshaw (Taking Lives, Gothika) reprises his role as Lieutenant Sharp, the though, hard nosed leader who must lead his rag tag team of soldiers through the numerous perils of Mezzo. Valerie Wiseman (Barbarian Invasions, Steal) returns as the impassible android Kara and by popular demand, will have more screen time and kick more @$$ this time around. Gillian Leigh (Samhain) returns as well as the sassy hotshot pilot Fooks. Other returning actors include John Fallon (Saw 2, Pain Killer, Alone in the Dark) in a surprising expansion on his original mercenary cameo, Heidi Hawkins (MTV's Undressed), Howard Rosenstein (Hatley High, Samhain), Ian Paterson and Nadja Scantamburlo.

As far as confirmed new comers, scream queen and B-movie actress Suzi Lorraine (The Night they Returned, Chainsaw Sally) makes a special appearance as the sultry Dr. Beverly Jones while Carmen Echeverria (Pain Killer, MTV's Undressed) co-stars as the ambitious, no-nonsense Lieutenant Salma Alvarez.

RECON 2022: THE MEZZO CONSPIRACY is prolific Montreal writer/director/editor Christian Viel (Pain Killer, RECON 2020, Samhain) fifth feature film and his first sequel. The film is executive produced by William Alexander and produced by Christian Viel who will also edit the film. Jean-Francois Fontaine returns as director of Photography. Fight choreography will be handled by Alan Chou (Samhain). Special Effects will be handled by Cineffects. Principal Photography will begin in January 2006 in Montreal, Canada.

In the effort to introduce the work of legendary sexploitation auteur Joseph Sarno to a wider audience while simultaneously meeting the criteria of specific U.S. retailers that only R-rated or R-equivalent product be placed upon their stores’ shelves, Retro Shock-O-Rama Cinema proudly announces the release of THE DEVIL'S PLAYTHING - the MPAA R cut of Sarno’s 1974 soft-core horror cult classic VAMPIRE ECSTASY (a.k.a. VEIL OF BLOOD). It comes from a brand new 1.78:1 telecine transfer from the original film elements and is enhanced for 16x9 televisions.

A heavily trimmed version of VEIL OF BLOOD, albeit with an X rating still attached to it, was released in the mid 1970s in the UK and U.S. under the titles THE DEVIL'S PLAYTHING and THE PLAYTHING OF THE DEVIL, respectively: This first ever home video and DVD release of THE DEVIL'S PLAYTHINGS includes further minor trims to the theatrical versions referenced above - just enough to secure a recent MPAA R rating while still retaining the sexually potent and erotic edge that places this provocative film head and shoulders above other "erotic horror" films of the day.

THE DEVIL'S PLAYTHING DVD will be available at Best Buy and other national retailers on November 8 at a special $12.99 msrp. The DVD recreates the film’s original theatrical poster art and features a full color booklet with insightful liner notes by sexploitation film historian and Sarno biographer Michael Bowen and a 2005 interview with director Sarno.

Here's the e-mail:

We would like to offer your readers a "free" dvd containing 2 sample one-hour episodes of industrialTELEVISION ($4.00 S/H fee applies-paypal accepted)

Here's the link: http://2droogies.com/itstuff!.htm

industrial TELEVISION is currently putting together a box set of the late-night public access television. Each box set will be 18 hours on 9 dvds. For the first set, they are starting with the complete season 8 (a bonus disc + 17 episodes from 2003-2004), and working their way backwards releasing year 7, 6, 5, and so on. Producer Edmund Varoulo says the transfer "look great, noticeably cleaner and better audio than the broadcast. They are direct copies from the master that's been digitally re-mastered for DVD"

BACK HOME AGAIN: THE REAL CASINO director Joe Alexandre, who chronicled the making of his mob documentary for us last year, recently sent us a press release for the new Hollywood-sized budget feature he's working on with Director Joe Carnahan. Congrats Joe Alenandre.

Writer/director Joe Carnahan has signed on to produce and develop a potential feature directing vehicle which FilmEngine will produce and finance. The pic is based on the life story of Will Wright: a seemingly perfect National Merit Scholar and promising high school athlete, who raked in $70 million dealing narcotics.

During his high school years Wright was an academic and athletic star in Washington State where he was drafted by the Seattle Mariners – at the same time he was also the mastermind of an international drug ring and money-laundering operation by age 17. Caught in a sting operation, Wright ultimately was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and served eight before being released two years ago at age 26.

Exec. Producers Giovanni Agnelli and Scott Bloom brought the project to Carnahan and his producing partner Michelle Grace, who immediately gravitated to the material.

"There's something quintessentially American about Will Wright's story” said Carnahan. “We've built this ‘brass ring’ ideology into almost every facet of our lives: In order to be something, you must achieve something and anything short of great wealth and fame seems like wasted pursuit. This kind of thinking permeates our culture on virtually every level and Will's story is a bi-product of that. I'm also thrilled to be working with young producers and a company in FilmEngine that have shown their willingness to take on interesting projects."

"Joe Carnahan is an intense and honest filmmaker with an uncompromising vision.  This story lends itself perfectly to his style" says Giovanni Agnelli.

FilmEngine has tapped scribe Joseph F. Alexandre to pen the screenplay. Alexandre, who has collaborated with Carnahan in the past, comes from the documentary world, having directed IN HOCK AND STAYING THERE and BACK HOME YEARS AGO: THE REAL CASINO.

“Will’s story,” says Alexandre, “is almost a mythic F. Scott Fitzgerald view of the American dream, albeit with Football pads and 9mm's, and its tendency to corrupt those most driven to succeed at the most opulent level.”

FilmEngine’s Tyler Mitchell, Anthony Rhulen, and A.J. Dix will produce the project along with Carnahan and Grace. Bill Shively, Giovanni Agnelli, Scott Bloom and Wright will Exec. Produce.

Friday October 21st, the Roxy Theatre in Victoria, Canada will play host to THE DEAD INSIDE, an independently-produced, low-budget film directed by Brian Clement, made and set in Victoria BC. The movie tells the story of a team of paranormal investigators in 1948 looking into mysterious disappearances at a 19th century home, and the secrets they uncover.

While the world premiere took place at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland Oregon on October 8th and 9th, the Canadian debut will take place only ten days before Halloween. The South American premiere will take place between October 28th and November 2nd, at the Buenos Aires Rojo Sangre Festival, in Argentina. "The Dead Inside" veers away from the satirically gratuitous gore and nudity of previous Frontline Films productions such as MEAT MARKET, and the post-modern examination of b-movie cinematic form in EXHUMED, for a more classic approach to a haunted house story. Drawing inspiration from the 1920's horror literature of H.P. Lovecraft, THE DEAD INSIDE opts instead for a chilling atmosphere of dread with a few good shocks and scares, and gore used sparingly for maximum impact. At no point does the film blatantly reveal its no-budget origins, with above-average acting, solid special effects, and an interesting story with characters that aren't simply stage props to be offed by the colourful villain.

The film presents a vision of a 1940's Canada crawling with otherworldly forces and foul creatures of the night, kept at bay only by the vigilance of a handful of people who know of their existence. With a nearly non-existent budget, the production creates an authentic period look, complete with flashbacks to World War II and strange inhuman creatures.

The Victoria, BC showing will be at the Roxy Theatre after their regular screening schedule the evening of Friday, October 21st, at approximately 11:30PM. Admission will be $5. There will also be a Vancouver BC showing on Sunday, December 4th, at 7PM.

Frontline Films Ltd. Was created in 1999 as a small Victoria-based production company devoted to entertaining and intelligent low-budget filmmaking, and has produced award-winning features such as "Meat Market" (b-independent.com's winner of "Underground Film of the Year" for 2001).

Mark Pirro of Pirromount says "The Japanese premiere of Rectuma will be November 2005. I've heard unsubstantiated rumors that it will get a theatrical run there in addition to its inevitible DVD release. However, these rumors have yet to be verified. I really need a business manager to keep better track of these things. Sometimes, when it comes to my films, I feel like a deadbeat dad. I'm there for the birth, then I send the kids out into the world with their surrogate mothers and rarely visit them. Although, based on how we always get screwed by distributors, we certainly pay alimony.

We found the official Japanese website that is releasing Rectuma and have also found a very badly translated version of the site. I notice that in Japan I'm known as "Mark Pillow." Makes sense, I guess. I mean, that's how the Japanese would pronounce my name, right? I suppose if I officially changed my name to "Mark Pillow," the Japanese would pronounce it "Mark Pirro." Oh, those wacky Japanese. Anyway, I like the poster they've created. It comes across looking like an actual Japanese monster movie. I'm told that this poster was designed by the same artist who did one of the Japanese "Kill Bill" posters. Good company.

I am finished with the remastering of the early Pirromount short films, Buns (1978) and The Spy Who Did It Better (1979) The remastering has gone well. They look better than they ever did, even though I was starting out with pretty grainy super 8 images. I'm now selling them together on one DVD through this site for 25 bucks. These films were never officially released, and they're collector's items, so treat them as such! Buns stars me as an insane killer of hamburger eaters. Whenever he sees someone eating a burger, he goes into a hypnotic trance and kills the carnavor (I think this movie was made before PETA was formed, can anyone verify that?). My co-star in the film is Glenn Campbell, in his one shot at acting before he had gone onto an Emmy Award winning career as a special effects artist. Buns runs 21 minutes. The second film on the disk is "The Spy Who Did It Better." That was my attempt at making a James Bond parody. It stars Pirromount regular John McCafferty, and runs about 45 minutes. This was produced 18 years before Austin Powers, I might add. Ah, a man wiser than me once said that the road west is paved with the bones of pioneers. "Spy" also has a cameo by the late Eric Douglas, who I had originally met and worked with as a tour guide at Universal Studios in the mid-70's. Eric passed away last year. Sigh.

ei Independent Cinema and Electric Daisy Pushers (EDP) are pleased to announce that the first DVD release from the fledgling production company THE DEVIL'S BLOODY PLAYTHING.

Electric Daisy Pushers is the new production company instigated by anarchic underground sexploitation filmmaker Bill Hellfire and cult actresses Zoe Moonshine and Ruby LaRocca. Hellfire was the driving force behind the notorious Factory 2000, which produced many shocking, disturbing, dangerously deviant and just plain nasty ex/sexploitation films throughout the late 1990s and into new millennium including such films as I Was a Teenage Strangler (featuring future Seduction/Shock-O-Rama Cinema star Misty Mundae’s first screen performance), Infamous Bondage Murders 1 & 2, Lesbos Slaughter 1 & 2, and, most notably, Duck: The Carbine High Massacre. Factory 2000 has since disbanded, but Hellfire and crew decided it was high time to once again produce the kinds of intense, often offensive, and controversial films that brought “The Factory” such international underground acclaim. And EDP does not disappoint, as its premiere release, the bloody and violent The Devil’s Bloody Plaything, directed by Hellfire and co-starring Moonshine and LaRocca, has already garnered favorable comparisons to Roman Polanski’s 1965 psychological horror classic Repulsion.

The ei Cinema and Factory 2000 relationship was an exciting and prolific one that began ten years ago, so it was only natural that ei and EDP forge a new relationship that will allow for the creation and distribution of further outrageous and in-your-face cinematic mayhem. Orgasm Torture in Satan’s Rape Clinic, EDP’s next release, certainly puts the exclamation point to that statement!

Washington State filmmaker Brion Rockwell has recently wrapped production and begun post-production on the remake of sexploitation auteur Nick Philips' 1972 feature FIRE IN HER BED (also known as Fire Under Her Bed). ei and Rockwell had been discussing working together for several years, ever since ei released his evocative and intelligent Pacific Northwest-set drama, WHERE THE AIR IS COOL AND DARK, to home video back in 1997, and the opportunity to do so finally presented itself. ei was confident that Rockwell had the insight and vision to effectively contemporarize and update Philips' minor cult sexploitation film; thus the project received the green light this past summer.

Shot in and around Seattle, WA, on Sony Hi-Definition, FIRE IN HER BED stars scintillating and seductive newcomers Angelina Dekker and Maria Palentini. If the initial "rushes" screened by ei are an indication, the chemistry between these two young women is simply amazing and the eroticism quotient staggering. Rockwell's final cut is forthcoming, so his version of Fire In Her Bed should see a release later next year on the Retro Seduction Cinema label - tagged teamed with the Nick Philips original.

Since purchasing several 1960s & 70s sexploitation films from the Nick Philips library, Retro Seduction Cinema has been actively committed to producing remakes - re-imaginings, if you will - and packaging them with the original films to create unique erotic double feature releases. Past original/remake double bills include the extraordinarily popular ROXANNA and LUSTFULL ADDICTION (both starring Misty Mundae, with Mundae writing & directing Lustful Addiction) as well as PLEASURES OF A WOMAN (starring Darian Caine and Julian Wells). The newest double feature forthcoming from Retro Seduction Cinema - it's currently scheduled for an early 2006 release - is CHANTAL, also starring Misty Mundae and written & directed by Tony Marsiglia (Dr. Jekyll and Mistress Hyde, Lust for Dracula, Sin Sisters).

Andrew Copp's latest experimental short film KING KILL 33 is available for download HERE. The short is loosely based onthe essay by James Shelby Downard that deals with the Occult implications of the Assassination of President Kennedy. Check it out and leave some feedback!

Copp says "we have been actively working on our next feature film, URBAN REALITIES, a co-production with NIGHTBEAT ENTERTAINMENT. The film is an anthology of short horror tales that all take place in the inner city. Copp has been co-producing, doing effects, and co-wrote/directed the first segment FUN IN THE OLD TOWN TONIGHT, about three teens who think driving around, beating up homeless people and videotaping it is the ultimate in a good time. That is until they get caught in a trap set for losers like them, that leads to bloodshed, cannibalism and ultimate retribution.

Copp continues. "the piece is my reaction to the pieces of shit who made those Bumfights tapes. It's my way of getting back at those who take advantage of the poor"

The short stars newcomers Brian Dixon, Rob Morrick, and Joe Mackenzie as the teens. As the homeless victims, Matt Brassfield and Andrew Copp, and newcomer Breanne Parcels is the beautiful young woman who is the lynchpin of the story.

The other shorts are being directed by producer Greg Tucker, and Andy Nulls. With professional animal training by Charles Cooper.

Ronnie Sorter of Borderline Entertainment recently made the announcement he'll "be assembling masters and supplementary material for the upcoming DVD release of SINISTRE. It'll be a challenge since we no longer own any of the editing equipment that was used to make the movies in the first place. Thankfully, I'd already cut together a behind-the-scenes featurette using footage that Mike Strain and his wife shot eleven years ago on the sets. Even if I had access to all those tapes, there'd be no way to cut it together; let alone the fact that I'd have no time to even review all of it. At least "Remains" will finally have a home because it will be included as a bonus...

The 10 minute zombie short "Remains" is the Springfield, Missouri filmmaker's first directorial effort in 8 years, since the underground action classic RAVAGE.

Car School Films' TERROR REPORT is a taut political thriller, blending traditional Hollywood action film conventions with scenarios ripped from today's headlines. It promises to do more than entertain. It suggests what really goes on behind the scenes in today's political environment, and approaches the subject of the war on terror from a global perspective. Moreover, it promises to raise questions about what regular people would do in incredible circumstances, and confirms what we already know – that those regular people will rise to the occasion and become heroes when circumstances demand it. TERROR REPORT is a feature length film project being created by students at Art Institutes International, Minnesota. Participating students are enrolled in the Visual Effects and Motion Graphics program, and will be receiving credit for their participation.

Chris Watson of Wild Range Productions is currently filming EVIL EVER AFTER with Randal Malone, Felissa Rose, Ron Jeremy, Brinke Stevens.

Of the plot, Watson only says that "an odd neighbor is wrongly accused of rape, the friends of the accuser beat him and leaves him for dead. The man comes back to town with vengeance on his mind--and eating the kids that hurt him."

Watson also says that his production SLAUGHTER PARTY is set for a February 7th release from Troma. In typical Troma style, this movie deals with "a mad doctor who creates a killer midget that is out to kill bikini clad women."
