Two new titles have just been released from W.A.V.E. Serena Powers: Private Eye stars Barbara Joyce as Serena Powers and Tina Krause as her secretary, Lisa McKay, and would be partner. Lisa is kidnapped by a killer thinking that she is Serena Powers. When he learns his mistake, he kidnaps Serena and puts the the two women through a series of deathtraps in order to find the location of $150,000 in drug money. But the women refuse to talk! Will Lisa be cut in half by the table saw? Will they hang together? Or will they simply go up in flames? Check out this light hearted, damsel-in-distress video teaming Barbara and Tina together and opposite each other for the first time ever! This video contains topless nudity, chloroforming, and some violence. LETHAL ILLUSIONS stars Pamela Sutch as magician, Jennifer the Magnificent and Barbara Joyce co-stars as Kara, the Knife Thrower. What if she saws her victims in half for real in front of a live audience? Debbie D and Bobbi Madison become her unwitting victims. See Kara cut off Lisa's top with her knife throwing act! This video contains topless nudity, black humor, and some gore.

After months of nothing, suddenly there's tons of Twisted Illusions news. Here's the latest from the website.

TIM RITTER has found a publisher for THE HAMMER WILL FALL, his exciting first novel that finds a teacher pitted against a violent gang of kids. Think THE STEPFATHER meets BLACKBOARD JUNGLE. The contract is rumored to have already been signed and the book should be released internationally by the end of the year. We will keep you updated here and keep in mind, this is a psychological thriller that turns into an absolute bloodbath at the end! The book is also full of B-movie homages, so you'll want to read it slow to catch all the tributes! Ritter is hard at work on his second novel, but he's tight-lipped on its subject matter at this time.

JOEL D. WYNKOOP recently did a cameo appearance in Richard Anasky's upcoming gorefest I AM VENGEANCE. Final pickup shots for this masterpeice of mayhem have been completed and look for it by fall 2001. Joel's role...you guessed it! Gus Kimball, the dirty cop!

FALL OF AN ACTOR is still in postproduction. Writer/Director Joel Wynkoop hopes to get it into the marketplace by the end of the year. There's still a few scenes left to shoot.

WEBMASTER BILL, "HUNG-LIKE-A-HORSE HARRY" aka BILL CASSINELLI is in production on his first movie, an anthology tentatively called WARPED REALITIES. He is shooting now and hopes to have the flick ready to market by summer's end! Stay tuned here!

MONSTERMAN, aka "Protectors Of Terror: Ransom II", is currently in postproduction at Brimstone Productions. There was a hangup due to the elaborate computer generated effects that are being created for the entire series, but producer Kevin Lindenmuth told us that it still looks good for a late 2001 release, or early 2002. We'll keep you posted! Lindenmuth's second book on making movies should be out this summer as well, spotlighting more information on Twisted Illusions' trials and tribulations!

And yes, there is an "unofficial" DVD release of KILLING SPREE that diehard fans have been picking up via E-BAY. Grab 'em while you can, but you might want to wait for the "official" version, coming in early 2002. This will feature two commentary tracks and a host of extra stuff, including lost and deleted footage! Also, there is once again talk of a KILLING SPREE 2. Some investors have approached Tim Ritter about the possibility, so we will keep you up to date the minute something develops!

Well how is this for a happy lead story?

Dawn and Dave Castiglione (BACKWOODS MARCY) of Sharkey Video have a new addition to their family. Kayla Ann Castiglione was born on April 6, 2001 at 3:55 PM weighing 8.3 lbs and 20 inches long. Dawn, Kayla and Dave were released from Stork Central on Monday and we are all doing fine.

Congratulatoins to Dawn and Dave!

Tim Ritter say that DIRTY COP, NO DONUT is going to be playing for two consecutive weekends as a midnight movie at The Den of Cin, a new venue in New York City. The film is being shown on June 15, 16, 22 and 23 and it will be reviewed in all major New York media.

Gary Whitson of WAVE says that REAL DETECTIVE STORIES 2 is now available. Pamela Sutch and Dean Paul star in this follow up to REAL DETECTIVE STORIES 1. Arthur (Dean) has remarried and things are not going well. His new wife, Samantha (Pam), plans to murder Arthur for his money while Arthur continues to read his trashy Detective magazines, imagining himself as the killer and his new wife as the victim. Only one of them will survive the ending. Who will it be?

Midnight Pictures had their "first of three day's shooting on our new film project Encounter at Black Ridge. The venue was McConville's, a bar in Portadown. For the first ever time, we're employing a professional actor: Tim McGarry, famous in Northern Ireland for starring in the hit TV series Give My Head Peace. He was there, playing one of our lead characters. Also on hire was a professional cameraman and sound man. Recording was done on digital video with sound on minidisc via an overhead mic. This is very much new territory for us. Being there on the day, beholding the scene, and recalling us on the last movie setting up our poxy analogue camcorders, all I could think was, 'Jeepers, this is like a real film. We're making a real film.'"

I was over at the MTI Video website and saw a solicitation for a new entry into the Fangoria line on tapes. Maybe I overlooked it, but I hadn't even seen it mentioned on the Fango site. The following synopsis was taken directly from the MTI site.

WINDERNESS

In the light of the moon, seduction and pleasure is never what it seems. And neither is Alice White (AMANDA OOMS), a beautiful and lonely woman with a painfully sinister secret: once a month, when the moon is full, she locks herself away and transforms into a she-wolf. When a passionate triangle ensues between a psychiatrist who can hardly believe her erotically charged tales and a man she may be her one shot at love, Alice flees to the wilderness where she is free to satiate her own beastly desires.

The pre-order date is May 10, 2001. The street day is May 29, 2001.

I found all the following the Fred Olen Ray website. It's been about a year since I've been there so I'm not to sure how old this is.

His current feature film, COUNTER MEASURES, marked Ray's 50th motion picture as director. The movie, which starred Michael Dudikoff, Alexander Keith, Scott mArlowe and Francine York was budgeted at $1.5m and is a submarine action film along the lines of Dudikoff's earlier HBO World Premiere CRASH DIVE. Producers were actor Andrew Stevens and Ashok Amritraj. Shot on location in Los Angeles, San Pedro and aboard the USS Pampanito submarine in San Francisco. The crew presented Ray with a celebratory cake marking the event. (Photo forthcoming)

Ray's total Directing/Producing/Writing credits number an even 70 films. Ten of which were made last year in what surely must be a new Hollywood record for a director (or at least in the last twenty or thirty years). And that included a trip to India for two months to direct INFERNO.

RECENT FILMS:

Ray recently completed a slate of pictures headed towards video and cable. They include:

INFERNO for Exec Prod Roger Corman, starring Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Rick Hill (DEATHSTALKER), and Tane McClure. Filmed on location in Madras, India.

RAPID ASSAULT, a submarine action picture starring Tim Abell (TV's SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE, INC.) and Jef Rector.

THE SHOOTER, a Western for Cabin Fever Entertainment starring Michael Dudikoff, Country singer Randy Travis and William Smith.

LITTLE MISS MAGIC, a childrens film starring Russ Tamblyn, Tommy Kirk and Michele Bauer.

PROPHET, another Roger Corman picture with Don "The Dragon" Wilson and Barbara Steele. An X-Files styled martial film.

COMING SOON:

INVISIBLE DAD, a follow-up to the successful INVISIBLE MOM, this one starring Karen Black and Charles Deirkop.

MASSEUSE 2 - Need we say more? Starring Gabriella Hall.

BIKINI HOE-DOWN - Lil Abner meets Griffin Drew.

NEXT IN LINE:

SECRET SANTA - a Christmas film starts shooting on September 20th. No cast set as yet.

INVISIBLE MOM 2 - another Corman sequel for November. The original INVISIBLE MOM which starred Dee Wallace Stone became the 3rd most rented video in America in the specialty market and was one of Concorde/New Horizon's top grossers of the year. The film also won the Finalist Award for Best Comedy Feature at the Santa Clarita International Film Festival in 1996.

TIBURON - Formerly FUTURE SUB, a up-dated version of 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA, by year's end.

Want to know what's going on with Sub Rosa Studios? Here's the answers to your questions.

Editing resumes this weekend on "Dark Descent: Unholy Fire". Should be wrapped up around mid-summer. This movie is anthology of shorts from Sub Rosa Studios.

Alexandre Michaud ("Urban Flesh") is producing "Goregoyles". "It is going to be a kick-ass series of movies each featuring two medium length fictions by the top indie directors. It's going to be wild and gory as the real horror fans like it." Reports Alexandre.

Worm Miller ("I was a Teenage Frankenstein's Roommate") has finished "Hey, Stop Stabbing Me!" (soon to be available via Sub Rosa Studios) and is hard at work editing an earlier production called "Murder Made Easy". "Also I shot a 30 minute short last week tentatively titled 'Magma Head'" Worm reports, "which I plan to package together with another loosely related short this summer.

Eric Thornett reports: "23 HOURS is being shown at the Johns Hopkins Film Festival this coming Saturday at 5 and 10pm! And best of all, it's gloriously free! Now you may think, "two showings hardly counts as a full night. Eric should stick a knife in his face." But wait! Before the ten o'clock showing is a film that Piranha Pictures is associated with called LETHAL FORCE, directed by Alvin Ecarma and starring Baltimore underground acting legend Cash Flagg Jr. I was called in for my action expertise, and I directed the many bloody action scenes. It's a night full of mayhem and demolition-derby style violence!"

The following showed up today as part of Stephanie Beaton's e-newsletter.

A quick note in regards to Evilynn character. There is no more Evilynn! Due to the greedyness of the one partner and wanting to take all monies for himself and being able to fire Stephanie at anytime, the Evilynn character and or contract has been terminated!!! The official Evilynn.com website will not launch on Friday, April 13th. If it happens to, there should be no pictures of Stephanie as the character Evilynn on this site. IF THERE IS pictures of Stephanie that you DO find out there as Evilynn, PLEASE contact myself, or Stephanie ASAP and where the location you found the info at. This would have been a GREAT concept but there are those out there in this world who want, want and want for themselves and have plans to scew you over right from the start!

As always, Ron Bonk is cranking out product for his great company Sub Rosa Studio. The following comes from his most recent newsletter.

We've launched another new studio divison of our company. As many of you know, our first division (called Sub Rosa Midwest) has thrived well in Kentucky under the guidance of Tim Ritter. Now where Sub Rosa Midwest focuses on exploitation type movies, eventually centering in on AIP/Roger Corman like product from the 50-60-70's, this new division will meet another b-movie demand. Sub Rosa Extreme, as it is being called, will focusing on producing gory, violent, disturbing feature films. And who better to oversee this division than St. Louis director Eric Stanze, the director of such mind-blowing films as Ice from the Sun and Scrapbook. We're already in pre-production on five new features set to wrap before the end of 2001. Meanwhile, Sub Rosa Midwest is currently in pre-production on six more new features, and at least four are set to be completed before end of 2001.

DEAD GIRL ON FILM

Jimmy, Max, and Bill want to make some quick money. So they take what little cash they have and put it towards making some S&M films. But making these movies isn't as easy as it seems, and their distributor tells them to get lost. Left to foot most of the bill, Jimmy realizes that maybe he's gotten in a little to deep with Max and Bill. Now he has to tell his abusive girlfriend that nobody wants the movies - the movies that he promised would make her a star!

Meanwhile, Max, desperate to make some money, sinks deeper into the underground sex market. With no line too fine to cross, new parties take notice of his work. He is offered a large sum of money to make something different... a real snuff film. Driven crazy with greed, Max decides to make the movie. Jimmy objects, but Max forces him along, making him run the camera at gunpoint...

Screaming. The slash of a knife. Blood. Lots of blood... And then it's done.

But in the aftermath, Jimmy's world really begins to fall apart. Strange things begin to happen to him, and anyone that comes in contact with the film is slaughtered. He becomes haunted by horrific images and life around him spirals into a supernatural gorefest...

Stephanie plays Nina, a top porn star dying to make it into non-adult film roles. The campy comedy is being directed by Ed (Bikini Car Wash) Hansen.

In May, Stephanie flies off to Minneapolis, Minnesota to work with Nightmare Productions on their latest, "Tortured Soul 3, The Willing Flesh." Michael W. Johnson will direct this 3rd and final installment of the series.

OBITUARIES

Sally Mansfield
The actress best known to genre-film fans for her role as Vena Ray on the "Rocky Jones, Space Ranger" television program, Sally Mansfield, is dead at 77. She had lung cancer. She began her show business career with theater work in her native Chicago. She switched to radio in the mid-1940s where she was heard on many soap operas and commercials. She also worked as a dancer in Las Vegas before winning a Paramount Pictures contract in 1951. She had small roles in several Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin films as well as "The Leather Saint" opposite Paul Douglas and John Derek. She beat out 300 other actresses to win the role of Vena on the "Rocky Jones" program, which starred Richard Crane as a two-fisted space pilot. In 1954, she was selected to portray Miss Emmy, a character used to publicize the annual television awards.

William Hanna
Pioneering animator William Hanna, who had been in declining health for some time, died at his home in North Hollywood. He was 90. Together with partner Joseph Barbera, Hanna created some of the best-loved characters in cartoon history, including "The Flintstones," "The Jetsons," "Yogi Bear," "Huckleberry Hound" and many others. Hanna and Barbera won a total of seven Academy Awards for the Tom and Jerry theatrical cartoons they created for MGM in the 1940s. Shifting to television in the 1950s, they won the first Emmy Award for an animated series for "Huckleberry Hound and Friends." Other series produced by the venerable Hanna-Barbera animation house were "Jonny Quest," "Quick Draw McGraw," "Space Ghost" and "Scooby-Doo."

Sam Wiesenthal
Sam Wiesenthal, who worked in a production capacity on classic Universal horror films such as "Dracula" and "Frankenstein," passed away at the Motion Picture & Television Hospital in Woodland Hills, Calif. Cult-movie fans will remember Sir Lancelot's roles in some of producer Val Lewton's classic RKO horrors, including "I Walked With A Zombie," "The Ghost Ship" and "Curse of the Cat People," as well as the 1950s shocker "The Unknown Terror." He also had a small role in the Bogart-Bacall classic "To Have and Have Not." His singing career was briefly resurrected in the 1980s when he performed in the Los Angeles area accompanied by Van Dyke Parks on piano, Ry Cooder on guitar and Jim Keltner on drums.
