Here is an update on the FEAR FILM Production "Realms of Blood" and all that's happening at FEAR FILM:

Just to refresh your memory about the film, it's FEAR FILM's first feature length movie with four different stories linked together by one in the same vein as "Creepshow". We just completed the "Pain Killer" segment of "Realms of Blood", starring SHEYENNE RIVERS and BOB GLAZIER, which has already been edited and sent out to California to be musically scored by composer CRAIG PADILLA. We start on "The Cologne" segment, written by B-Horror legend TIM RITTER, in two weeks in the Deerfield Beach area of Florida and should be completed with that segment by the middle of October.

The new "Realms of Blood" website is up and running with cast photos and actual screen shots from the movie so check it out at http://www.realmsofblood.com! We just got a release date for our latest movie "PHOBIAS" which is a double feature of our first two short movies "When Shadows Lie Darkest" and "Blackout" starring JON FISH and Orlando actress KATHARINE LEIS. The movie will be distributed by SUB ROSA STUDIOS through http://www.b-movie.com and will be available on VHS and DVD on JANUARY 14, 2003

Dan and Jon Masucci, the brothers behind the fantastic X-Files fan-film GRACELAND, have just released their newest project, MURPHY'S LAW.

"Anything that can go wrong, will."

Tad Murphy didn't just wake up on the wrong side of the bed... He fell off it.

Tad thinks his luck runs out when his girlfriend breaks up with him. He thinks he's cursed after he's fired from his job. But when he loses his pants he knows he is.

Look for a trailer to the Masucci's next project, WALKING WITH THE DEAD, on the official walking site come Halloween. Below is the official press release.

Los Angeles, California - Eden Studios, Inc. is excited to announce production and distribution of a feature movie based on its highly successful zombie survivor horror roleplaying game All Flesh Must Be Eaten. The movie, entitled Walking With The Dead, will be a Fountainhead Pictures production, by Joe and Dan Masucci. It is currently in development and will be released as a direct-to-DVD feature slated for Fall 2003.

"I'm so excited to produce this movie. The chance to create a new venue of exposure for All Flesh Must Be Eaten is a great step for both Eden Studios and the game. I've been a fan of the Masucci Brothers' movies since they began, and their guerrilla movie-making tactics remind me of what we do on the game front here at Eden. I can't wait to see what they can do with a budget," said George Vasilakos, President of Eden Studios. "This is historic. Nobody yet has combined a movie and a gaming supplement in one easy-to-digest package. It will definitely be something zombie fans, and AFMBE maniacs in particular, can really sink their teeth into."

"Zombies. Everyone loves a zombie film. We have long discussed making a zombie picture. Being able to use the All Flesh Must Be Eaten property gets us an immediate leg up from a promotion standpoint, provides tremendous creative inspiration, and grants access to some of the most rabid zombie fanatics going—AFMBE gamers," added Dan Masucci, of Fountainhead Pictures. "We intend to make a great zombie movie—one that the most discriminating zombie fan will enjoy."

The Walking With The Dead DVD will include special, behind-the-scenes footage of the movie-making process, commentary tracks from the filmmakers, and a ready-to-run adventure for the AFMBE roleplaying game detailing the zombies, world and cast of the movie.

Eden Studios makes cool games. Their latest hit, All Flesh Must Be Eaten, the zombie survivor horror roleplaying game, sold through the initial print run in less than four weeks. Eden also produces the Buffy the Vampire Slayer roleplaying game based on the hit Fox TV show, CJ Carella's WitchCraft, the roleplaying game of dark secrets and magic, Conspiracy X, the role playing game of aliens and government cover-ups, and the Eden Odyssey line of d20 system game products. On the lighter side, Eden Studios offers HACK!, a humorous card game based on the Knights of the Dinner Table™ comic book by Kenzer and Company, and Abduction, the fast and furious game of alien abduction. Check out all the Eden Studios products at www.edenstudios.net.

Fountainhead Pictures brings Hollywood to upstate New York. Owned and operated by brothers, Joe and Dan Masucci, this film-making fraternity has been producing guerrilla movies since 1995. Graceland, their fan fiction episode of The X-Files has become a cult favorite among film fans and has been seen around the world, most recently at Sci-Fi London, a Science Fiction and Fantasy Film Festival. The Masucci Brothers' latest movie, Murphy's Law was recently selected to be screened at The 4th Annual Los Angeles Italian Film Awards. The Masucci Brothers are known for completing exciting projects that have a big feel despite their micro budgets.

Pow! Films: The New Movie Has A Name

As mastermind Jay Cheel enters his first full year of film school, he is simultaneously penning what may very well turn out to be his most ambitious film project ever. Very little has been leaked about the script, and in fact, up until now the movie didn't even have a name. That's where the big news has been dropped. Mr. Cheel let it slip last week that the new movie is tentatively entitled "Cancer and Aquarius", which may seem like a cryptic title for a film, but really it's all quite easy to explain. You see, rather than having to rack his brain to develop the perfect names for the main characters in the film, he has instead decided to refer to them only by their respective zodiac signs. Catch my drift?

Albinoman Special Edition VCDs In Production

There's no question that Albinoman is the most loved and respected of all the characters in the Pow! Media-verse. His films have broken down the boundaries between social class, race, gender, sexual orientation, and hair colour. They have touched the hearts of millions. That is why recently we had to stop and ask ourselves why Albinoman has not yet been brought into the 21st century through the magic of digital technology (aside from the Japanese laserdisc that is now out of print). We couldn't really come up with a viable explanation for this, and so we decided that it was up to us to give the people what they want... an upgraded, uncensored, no-holds-barred super deluxe special edition release of the Albinoman movies on VCD!

We had considered re-editing the Albinoman movies in the past, but this idea was shot down because it's just too difficult to transfer all the footage to digital format before editing it again. Instead, what we are going to do is capture Albinoman: The Motion Picture and Albinoman Again directly onto a computer in its original form, and from there transfer each movie onto a VCD, along with a cool collection of special features. The details of the special features have yet to be decided, but among the stuff we are hoping to include are:

- audio commentary track from Jay and Sean, possibly others (probably just for Albinoman Again, as there won't be enough space on one disc for Albinoman:TMP with commentary)
- retrospective interviews with the cast and crew
- crappy old Albinoman "TV episodes" (the true origins of the Albinoman saga)
- unused footage from the abandoned Albinoman 3 project
- and much more!!

This just seems like the logical thing to do. People who have been bugging us for copies of the Albinoman movies will now be able to purchase them from us for very cheap, and people whose VHS tapes have been abused and played over and over again will finally be able to preserve these classic movies for future generations.

People have asked why we are working with VCDs instead of DVDs at the moment. DVD burners are indeed coming down in price, but as far as we know, they are still plagued with compatibility issues. While VCDs also do not play in every DVD player out there, they have the added bonus of being playable in a regular PC CD-ROM. We could pay to have DVDs professionally produced... but that would cost money. The DVD is something we have in mind for the future, but right now, the Video CD format will allow us to present our movies in a way that is a step up from a regular VHS tape (and incidentally, that is much easier for us to produce copies of).

We are hoping to have these VCDs ready to sell within the next couple of weeks, however, if there are complications we may first release a "barebones" VCD with both movies on one disc, and take our time with the "special editions". Stay tuned to the Pow! Films website for updates on the production of these monumental releases.

Also, just a quick reminder that the Stop Or I'll Shoot VCD is now on sale at Tantrum Records on St. Paul Street in St.Catharines. Very convenient for those of you who are St.Catharines residents... take home your copy today!

First-time feature film director Kent Karemaker has begun editing for the horror/sci-fi film "Raising Dead". The film is paying homage to 1950's B-movies and features both aliens and zombies all in glorious black and white.

The film starts in modern day and quickly falls back into a story of mystery in the 1950's involving a race of aliens intent on curing a rare disease by using human's as test subjects.

Their plan causes the dead to become re-animated and havoc ensues over the sleepy town of Stalling Falls.

Starring Robin Miller, Larry Parish, and Kristy MacGregor, the film features Ed Wood film alums Conrad Brooks, Dolores Fuller, and Rev. Dr. Lynn Lemon! Emmy Award winner William Windom (Murder, She Wrote; To Kill A Mockingbird) guest appears.

From Brad Sykes (CAMP BLOOD 1 & 2):

I just directed a new film you might¹ve heard about called "DEATH FACTORY". It¹s coming out nationwide on tape and DVD in November from Brain Damage Films. As writer and director of DEATH FACTORY, I¹m very proud of how the movie turned out and I think a lot of horror fans will feel the same way. The cast features Tiffany Shepis (of BLOODY MURDER 2 and BUNDY) and Ron Jeremy (HELL¹S HIGHWAY, upcoming RULES OF ATTRACTION) as well as a talented group of newcomers. The ultra-gory special effects and creature design are by Ron Karkoska (DEAD AND ROTTING, HORRORVISION). The film has tremendous atmosphere, as we shot in an actual "Spooky House" just north of L.A. Altogether, I think DEATH FACTORY should emerge as one of the best low-budget horror films of the year.

The NYC Horror Film Festival honors legendary filmmaker George A. Romero with "Lifetime Achievement Award".

The NYCHFF is proud to announce its latest sponsor THE INDEPENDENT FILM CHANNEL (IFC).

The NYCHFF and IFC will honor legendary filmmaker George A. Romero with the festival's first "Lifetime Achievement Award." Mr. Romero will attend and we will present a special program and screening of one of his most beloved films "Creepshow".

Mr. Romero's legendary career represents the evolution of the modern horror film. The New York born and raised filmmaker was in his late 20's when he came up with the idea for "Night of the Living Dead." This film was instrumental in the progression of horror films from 1950's campy, B-movie, sci-fi films to the terrifying realistic horror films of today.

The world-renowned writer and director then went on to a brilliant career, bringing to life some of the most successful horror films of the 20th Century. His impressive roster of films includes such horror titles as: Night of the Living Dead (1968) - The Crazies (1973) - Martin (1978) - Dawn of the Dead (1979) - Creepshow (1982) - Day of the Dead (1985) - Monkey Shines (1988)- Two Evil Eyes (1990) - The Dark Half (1993) - and Bruiser (2001).

In addition to screening some of the best new independent horror films in our competition series, the NYCHFF will be presenting three special "Classic Indies" screenings of:

· "Creepshow" --- "The Most Fun You'll Ever Have Being Scared" The NYCHFF will screen a 35mm print of George A. Romero's classic horror comic book come to life as a part of our special Lifetime Achievement Award Program. With stars including Adrienne Barbeau, Ted Danson, Ed Harris, Hal Holbrook, Stephen King, E.G. Marshall, Leslie Nielson and more this film is an exciting addition to the festival lineup.

· "Maniac" --- "I Warned You Not To Go Out Tonight" NYCHFF will be presenting a very special screening William Lustig's 1980 classic slasher film staring Joe Spinell, Caroline Munro and Tom Savini. Director William Lustig will be on-hand to discuss the screening and his Blue Underground line of films.

· "Return of the Living Dead" --- "They're back from the grave and ready to party!" NYCHFF is very excited to offer a very rare screening of Dan O'Bannon's 1985 classic zombie film "Return of the Living Dead". Staring Clu Gulager, James Karren and Linnea Quigley. We will screen a 35mm print.

"Bent," MINDSCAPE PICTURES first feature-length release, is in need of a female voice-over artist to do narration for the various connecting chapters that will bind the each short film of the compilation together. The anthology is a series of thematically-diverse short movies bound together by the idea that life, like the path rain water follows down a windowpane, can be suddenly and unpredictably "Bent."

This is an unpaid, non-union production slated to be released on both VHS and DVD during the Fall of 2002. Voice-artists can contact us with resumes and demos through email at casting@mindscapepictures.com or through snail mail at:

MINDSCAPE PICTURES
PO BOX 35876
Boston, MA. 02135

If you are an actress who has previously sent in your resume to us and you are interested in doing voice work, please send us an email stating such interest. Planned recording of "Bent's" narration will take place in late September 2002. "Bent" will be a series of three compilations, and the opportunity is present for the artist chosen to do voice work for all three movies in the series.

MINDSCAPE is up to "Shady Business!"

During the month of September, MINDSCAPE PICTURES will be hard at work on a new short comedy entitled "Shady Business," a story about two suburban-Boston townies whose lives go horribly wrong when they partner up with a psychotic old pal, who believes he's a Marine, to spy on one of the townies' cheating girlfriend. "Shady Business" will be the first MINDSCAPE PICTURES production to be directed by Frank Parker ("Stubble Judge") and features a screenplay penned by the movie's stars, Zach Lawrence and Chris Conte, as well as MINDSCAPE PICTURES president Jason Santo (who also acts as producer.) Joining cast-members Lawrence and Conte, (who play townies Guy and Tommy,) are locals Dan Langdon as the insane military-loving Busey, Neil O'Callaghan as unfortunate abductee Brian, and Nikki Sella as the object of Guy's affection, Casey.

Shooting begins September 6 in Newton, Massachusetts where the majority of the picture will be shot. Locations include the popular Newton restaurant "The Wing House" and "Petrillo's Market," the kind of quaint neighborhood convenience store one can only find in New England. Production is expected to wrap around September 21, 2002. For more information about this new project, visit its COMING SOON page at www.mindscapepictures.com which features a production journal written by director Frank Parker.

"Time Heals All Wounds" Gets Stark Treatment!

MINDSCAPE PICTURES is pleased to announce that Massachusetts-based acclaimed independent film composer Luke Stark ("After Midnight") is currently hard at work on providing a "Hitchcockian" score for the short movie "Time Heal All Wounds." The story of a pair of friends who are trapped in an apartment when time suddenly freezes, "Time Heals All Wounds" stars Roman Berman and Alecia Batson and is written, directed and edited by Jason Santo.

Luke Stark's critically-acclaimed work on the Jodom Pictures feature-length movie "After Midnight" lead to a nomination for "Best Music" at the 2002 REwind Magazine Video Movie Awards held in South Dakota this past July. Luke has worked with Santo before on a few other past productions, and is the man responsible for MINDSCAPE PICTURES' intro music, but it appears "Time Heals…" will be the first collaboration between the two that will reach the public. Expect a score that sounds akin to the work of Bernard Herrmann or the more recent compositions by "Signs" composer James Newton Howard.

Production on "Time Heals All Wounds" wrapped in late July, 2002 and a rough cut has been completed. The picture will appear on the MINDSCAPE PICTURES feature-length short-film compilation "Bent: Volume 2" alongside the movies "In a Sky With No Angels" and "More Than Money's Worth." For more information regarding the progress of "Time Heals All Wounds," please visit its COMING SOON page at www.mindscapepictures.com.

"Again" Wraps - Joins MINDSCAPE PICTURES' Editing Queue!

Despite a number of scheduling setbacks and the replacement of one of the principle actors, "Again" managed to finish shooting in mid-August. This "Twilight Zone"-like tale about a man who simply cannot shake a bout of Déjà vu stars Frank Parker (reprising the role from an earlier version of the movie short in 2000 by writer/director Jason Santo), Kathy Nestor ("In a Sky With No Angels,") Christian Cibotti ("Joey & Maria's Comedy Wedding,") and newcomer Amy Martin.

"Again" now joins a progressing list of titles that are currently moving through different stages of post-production, including "Haunted," "Time Heals All Wounds" and "The Dinner." While "Haunted" and "Time Heals All Wounds" have a completed rough cuts, both are awaiting scoring and final sound mixes. In the meantime, "The Dinner," starring actress Tina Krause ("Witchouse 3: Demon Fire") moves into cutting during this month, soon to be followed by "Here Comes Your Man." "Again" may see editing some time in late October, early November.

DEMONS ARE THE REASON FOR THE SEASON

Director Jason Christ has officially started production of SAVAGE HARVEST 2: OCTOBER BLOOD. Shooting will continue through the end of 2002.

The movie stars Benjamin Gaa, Emily Haack (SCRAPBOOK), and David Propst. Eric Stanze (director of ICE FROM THE SUN, SCRAPBOOK, and the original SAVAGE HARVEST) plays a leading role in addition to his executive producer duties. Lisa A. Morrison returns to her role of "Mikki" for this sequel.

The story: Tyge Murdock (Benjamin Gaa), a successful director of low-budget horror films, has been chasing monsters his whole life. When an actor is accidentally killed on the set of his latest production, Tyge returns to his hometown to reassess his life. But all new nightmares await him there... His path soon crosses that of Ashley Lomack (Emily Haack of SCRAPBOOK and THE UNDERTOW), his high school sweetheart who vanished from his life after a gruesome mass murder ten years earlier. The sole survivor of this massacre was Ashley's older sister Mikki (Lisa A. Morrison of SAVAGE HARVEST). Consumed by the rumors of demonic possession surrounding the murders, Tyge soon finds himself trapped in a deadly chain of events. The demonic forces erupt once more for another night of terror and carnage. Tyge, Ashley and their friends must now unravel the blood-soaked mystery if there's to be any hope for their survival.

The splashy red stuff should be a big part of any demon possession movie. Gore effects are being handled by makeup artist Patrick Voss. Check out his website: http://www.vfxcreates.com/

Dr. Squid says "I finished the initial cut of UNDERBELLY. I had always been unsatisfied with the flow of things in the third act - it went too quickly and the story jumped over a big chunk of time (since basically no characters were doing anything interesting storywise during this time, except one guy driving for several hours). Anyhow, I wrote up a new sequence to be added and shot it a couple of weeks back with a couple of new friends from up the freeway: Robert L. Sumner, seen most recently in "Abomination: Evilmaker 2" and "Housebound," and newcomer Natalie. I'm quite happy with how this new sequence helps with the flow of the movie. I also finally got around to shooting the very final scene with myself and Shannon. We've got something special planned for the opening and ending credits - currently trying to work out all the details. After those are completed, sound effects and music remain as well as some computerized post-production to achieve a filmlook type of look.

"As far as extras, I already have a 12-minute behind-the-scenes and bloopers segment cut together an just this last week, Michael Hegg and I met at the MarKum Inn (where the bar and restaurant scenes for Underbelly were shot) where I did a brief interview about the making of the movie, while chowing down on a Jumbo Markum Burger. Mmmmm.....

"The bits and pieces needed for my hodge-podge gorefest Zombie Love Slave are just about all in position. Last Saturday, I shot some stuff with Dale Wilson (seen in most of my movies, including playing "The Dailen" in Monster in the Garage) featuing he and I as two bridge inspectors who run into some pint-sized zombies. Yes, we used our own kids, but have no fear, there was no blood in this particular sequence to traumatize those prescious little 5- and 8-year-olds. The kids really loved getting made-up as zombies, though. Perhaps their favorite part was having chocolate frosting smeared on their teeth. The last thing you want in a zombie is clean teeth, right? Anyhow, I've got just a handful of small pick-ups that I can probably do myself and then I can fully dive into editing this monster.

"Music for Zombie Love Slave will be done by Christopher Kahler aka "darthvonpokemon" - you can check out Chris' page at: http://www.angelfire.com/il/drunkenflesh/index.html. The stuff I've heard from Chris so far reminds me of that early 1980's Full Moon/b-movie horror music, and I think it'll fit perfectly into the movie!

"Be sure to check out the wacky photos from the set of Abomination: Evilmaker 2 at http://www.proaxis.com/~sherlockfam/bnewsaftergeorge.html

"Check out some nifty pics from "Jedi 6," a Star Wars fanfilm I've been a bit player in: http://www.bravadoent.com/news/jedi6pics.html. Actually, I've been able to play two bit parts: a Jedi Council member (named by writer/director Alan Winston as "Vander Odnog") - I'm the green bug guy in the next-to-the-last picture; AND one of the bounty hunters (I'm the one with the lobster/crab-ish head on the far right in the red-lit picture of the five characters standing in a line). I've lent many of my monster & alien masks to the production, so you may recognize a character or two from some F&C Productions. This weekend, my bounty hunter gets killed - should be fun!

"Just tonight, I reprised my role as Frank, the astronaut stranded on a planet of dinosaurs for Tom Shaffer's "Prehistoricus" short. We shot the death scene of my fellow strandee, Frannie (played by Dee last seen as the bloodsucking cheerleader in Lust of the Vampire Hookers), which then leads into the finale of the short, which Tom shot a couple of weeks ago.

"Coming up in late September, I'll be DP for a zombie short that John Bowker will be shooting at his house.

TEMPE INVADES THE SCI-FI CHANNEL!

Hey folks...this weekend and next you can catch a glimpse of two of the films Tempe Entertainment has made for Full Moon as part of WILLIAM SHATNER'S FULL MOON FRIGHT NIGHT! Tune your cable television to the Sci-Fi Channel and check out...

WITCHOUSE 2: BLOOD COVEN
Saturday, Sept. 7th, 2002 at 11 p.m. Starrring ARIAUNA ALBRIGHT (BLOODLETTING), ANDREW PRINE (GRIZZLY), KAYCEE SHANK (STITCHES)
Directed by J.R. BOOKWALTER
Shot in Romania, this was our first 35mm production and took the WITCHOUSE series in a whole new direction (a tradition that would continue in WITCHOUSE 3: DEMON FIRE). Look for STITCHES and HELL ASYLUM starlet Debra Mayer in a cameo with Shatner during one of the wraparounds!

"OZONE" REMASTERING IS COMPLETE!

We've been mentioning for a few years now that J.R. Bookwalter has been working on remastering his landmark 1994 shot-on-video feature OZONE for Special Edition DVD, bringing the movie's technical aspects closer to current standards.

For those who don't know, OZONE was the first film Bookwalter made after nine features in a row for Cinema Home Video that ended in 1992. This $3,500 wonder was shot with a consumer-level S-VHS-C camcorder but impressed critics and fans alike when it was first released by Tempe Video in January, 1994 for its use of lighting, special effects and atmosphere.

"I don't even take the credit to be honest," Bookwalter says humbly. "I just made some obvious moves, like casting James Black." Black was a veteran of several Cinema Home Video-era movies (his acting debut) and with OZONE under his belt, he set off for Hollywood and soon became a legitimate talent to be reckoned with both on television (THE BURNING ZONE, WILL & GRACE, DON KING: ONLY IN AMERICA) and on the big screen (SOLIDER, OUT OF SIGHT, UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: THE RETURN). Black is in almost every frame of the film, and his on-screen presence was a clear sign of things to come. Sharing the spotlight with James Black was a variety of supporting roles, including Tempe staple Tom Hoover (POLYMORPH, DEAD & ROTTING), Lori Scarlett (TOWNIES, MIDNIGHT 2), James L. Edwards (BLOODLETTING, who plays THREE roles!) and Bill Morrison (ROBOT NINJA). Also look for cameos by TOWNIES director Wayne A. Harold, DEAD NEXT DOOR producer Scott P. Plummer and even Bookwalter himself, whistling the theme to THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW!

So what can fans expect of the "new & improved" OZONE? "We just finished a really kick-ass 5.1 surround remix," Bookwalter gushes. "If you've heard the 5.1 mixes on WITCHOUSE 2 & 3, then imagine that kind of intensity applied to OZONE. Every sound effect and ambience has been completely rebuilt for 5.1, although we were careful to retain most of the original dialogue -- which wasn't easy because the S-VHS Hi-Fi sound was not so good to begin with. The sound finally matches the stong visuals after all these years!" Expect exploding heads and mutant transformations to completely envelope you this time around, further enhanced by the excellent original score from German composer Jens C. Moller and an all-new version of Matthew Jason Walsh's "Into the Black" end title song with vocals from WITCHOUSE 3's Melanie Nowlin.

When OZONE was first released, it was a forerunner in the use of computer desktop special effects, including perhaps the first use of morphing effects in low-budget films (and certainly in no-budget films). "The problem then," explains Bookwalter, "was there was no way to get moving video into the Amiga computer. So all the morphs were from still frames...quite effective in 1993, but laughable by today's standards." The morph effects were completely recreated from moving video by David Lange, including major enhancements to the film's miniatures and explosions. "I've spent far more money to remaster this movie than we made it for in the first place," Bookwalter laughs.

One thing the filmmaker was careful not to tamper with was the overall pace and mood of the movie. "It's the exact same length as it was in 1994," Bookwalter says. "I did tighten up some edits and drop in a few new insert shots here and there, but we didn't change the timeline." Bookwalter also digitally restored and reassembled the picture from scratch with all-new color timing, titles and filmlook. (Anyone who has seen the 1992 sci-fi/comedy GALAXY OF THE DINOSAURS on the Lunar Edition DVD for THE VAULT will see the potential of what OZONE now looks like.) "It's pristine, and we also painted out hundreds of shots that had analog tape dropout and damage to further clean up the image. It's like night and day from the original version, even more impressive than the new transfer of SKINNED ALIVE we released in May."

So when can fans expect to see the remastered OZONE? Wizard Video will be bringing it to VHS and DVD in January at video stores nationwide, and a Tempe Special Edition DVD will follow later in the year with an all-new making-of segment, a look at the restoration process, isolated music score and much more. The Wizard version will feature a commentary by Bookwalter, while the Tempe DVD will feature a different version with Bookwalter and star James Black. Stay tuned to the website for more details!

This week a number of e-mails were released concerning the fate of Alvin Ecarma's LETHAL FORCE.

When LETHAL FORCE is not LETHAL FORCE

In an ironic turn of events, James Dalthrop's LETHAL FORCE, the sort of low-grade, direct-to-video action film mercilessly parodied by Alvin Ecarma's indie classic LETHAL FORCE, will be hitting shelves nationwide this December. Though somewhat disheartened at this turn of events, Director Ecarma is philosophical. "Our film is copyrighted, however the title was never trademarked and even then it would not have been immune to use. This is going to create a lot of confusion. Fair's fair, I guess." However, Ecarma did say this "If they do try to pass my publicity as their own, I will take vigorous and thorough legal action."

Then came...

For the time being, our LETHAL FORCE will be referred to in PR materials as ALVIN ECARMA'S LETHAL FORCE. Hopefully this will avoid confusion and when people see that other piece of crap DTV in Blockbuster they'll go "Ohhh, it's that other LETHAL FORCE, not that really good one I've heard is so very entetaining." Hopefully, the dual star power of Richard Tyson AND Robert "Man from U.N.C.L.E." won't crush our tiny little film. Thank god Gary Busey and Corey Haim weren't available or we'd be dead.

Well, I just recieved my "test" copy of my film HICK TREK "The Next Aggravation" on DVD (to actually see how the tape-to-disk transfer looks before having multiple copies made).

The thing looks fantastic! (whewwwwwww...)

The DVD includes not only the 38 minute film, but a 20 minute documentary on the making of Hick Trek, a few minutes of Outtakes, a Remix of a scene that didn't work right in the movie, but is pretty good on it's own!

And you can also watch the movie with ME talking over it, letting you in on "stuff" that happened while in production.

I have a booth at ROC*KON in late September (Little Rock, Arkansas). They'll be showing the film on Friday night, and I get to introduce it and take some questions from the audience. I guess they get a good bunch of people at the convention, so it should be lots-o-fun!

You can also see the film at ARCHON 26 in Ohio in October.

I've updated the web site (www.HICKTREK.com) with all the new information, so please take a look.

Thanks!

From Mark Pirro:

As of this writing, we are on day 11 of Rectuma and still all is well. We have approximately 30 minutes of edited footage and as I’ve said before, it’s looking great. Since we shot that one rain scene the other month, I’ve gotten a boner for the look of a rainy atmosphere. So, our next day’s shoot will have rain again. This time we plan on sending a light through a blue-gelled window with water coming down from it. We will then shoot the reflection it creates on the wall of a bedroom. Pretty snazzy.

In other news, we’re only a month away from the DVD re-releases of A POLISH VAMPIRE IN BURBANK and CURSE OF THE QUEERWOLF. Judging by the advance orders and emails, they may do even better business than their original debuts. I’m not too keen on the boxart designed by MTI video, but they assure me that it is in the best interest of the films. Polish Vampire’s box art depicts a cross-eyed close up of Dupah, with a mosquito on the bridge of his nose (I don’t get it either). Queerwolf’s campaign is similar to Raedon’s old campaign; the half man/half woman concept with a girl’s face that resembles Alicia Silverstone. The problem with that, although colorful, is that it really doesn’t relate to the film and in my opinion, looks like a soft-core porn video cover. Anyway, always interested in feedback. Let us know what you think.

Remember, street day for these films is October 29th with pre-orders starting on October 10th. Be sure and tell your local video stores to stock up.

By the way, on Sunday, September 8th, between 7am and 8am, the star of Rectuma, Bill Devlin, will be on a local NBC show called “Today in L.A.” That’s channel four in most areas. If you live in the L.A. area and are up at that time, check it out!

Love in a Straitjacket is a combination of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Girl Interrupted also starring is Athena Demos (Starship Troopers), Walker Peacock (The Faculty), Lela Edgar, and Heather Hudson.

ROCK 'N' ROLL STARSHIP

Believed in several systems to be the cause of the famous "Ramses Colony Disaster" (Don't ask, it's too horrible to tell!), the band travels from gig to gig in the Starship Zep'Lin, a Yugo-class Starship.

Doug Froog is the pilot of the Zep'Lin, as well the Bass guitarist and keyboardist for the band. He likes big guns and big explosions, but he's really a sweet guy deep down inside...sometimes. His preferred weapon is the Corbomite Device.

Jorge Jettsonn is the science and maintenance officer on board and also plays the drums. He keeps busy because he has had to replace every interior piece of the Zep'Lin since coming on board! His preferred weapon is chewing gum.

Bob Dinver not only plays guitar and sings, he...well...he owns the Zep'Lin! That's it. He has appointed himself Captain even though Doug and Jorge will not allow him any working buttons on his console! After all, God only knows what kind of damage Bob could do if given the chance! Bob's preferred weapon is a slingshot.

Following a particularly bad gig at the Milkyways Cantina, the guys, at the bidding of Commander Deckins (and after naming their own price), travel to the Homeworld Space Station in order to check on the Priority Black Emergency. They are greeted by Zake, an android with an inflated sense of self-importance, and immediately set off in an unselfish search for the babe...er...agent to find out what has gone wrong at the station.

Jorge quickly makes a strange discovery and the guys stumble blindly across the truth which leads everybody on a race against time to save the universe!

Here's the latest from Pipedreams Entertainment:

The Evilmaker is out there on DVD, so keep an eye out for it. I've heard that it's selling as low as six bucks, so it's a heck of a deal.

Abomination: The Evilmaker 2 should be out sometime in 2003, we will keep updating on this as the news comes in.

Housebound finished filming in June and is currently being edited and should be ready for DVD release in early 2003 by Sub Rosa Midwest. The shoot went very well, came in on (if not under) schedule every night, so very happy. While shooting, it dawned on me how many represenatives from different companies who were involved in it. My company, Pipedreams and then there was my Director of Photography Joe Sherlock (F&C Productions), Associate Producer M. Edward Hegg (Rusted Angel Productions), actors Alan Winston and Erin Arbogast (Bravado Entertainment), actor Warren E.B.B (Feuneral Home Entertainment), actor Robert L Sumner (Altered Fates Entertainment), actress Jenn Laharty and behind the scenes guy K. Shawn Edgar (Junk Productions), not to mention the opening sequence was filmed by none other than Director Tim Ritter (Twisted Illusions.) We are having computer effects done once again by Benjamin Cooper (Thunderhead Entertainment) who did an incredible job with Evilmaker 2. Wow. Boggles the mind. :) Plus, there will be music performances by metal band Twisted Tower Dire. Wait until you hear their stuff. Incredible.

The Seekers is also in post production, with a 2003 release date from Sub Rosa Midwest. There will be music tracks by another metal band, Seasons Of The Wolf. These guys know how to rock.

Dreamwalkers is almost completed as well. Man, this one has been a long time coming. Just waiting for some last minute effects. This will also be in 2003 it looks like.

In September we will get behind the camera again to shoot a zombie sequence for Tim Ritter's Twisted Illusions 2. We can't wait for that. More news on that as it develops.

OBITUARIES

As always, thanks for www.B-Monster.com for sharing the sad news.

Veteran character actor Jeff Corey died at St. John's Medical Center in Santa Monica. He had fallen in his Malibu home earlier in the week and developed complications while hospitalized. He was 88. Corey was a prolific actor, whose credits include appearances in hundreds of films and television programs spanning every genre. He may be best known to genre-film fans as vigilante Luke Benson of "Superman and The Mole Men," the film that first featured George Reeves as the Man of Steel and led to the popular teleseries, "The Adventures of Superman."

Throughout his acting career, Corey was also a highly respected acting teacher, whose students included James Dean, Anthony Perkins, Shirley Knight, Jane Fonda, Peter Fonda, Leonard Nimoy, Robin Williams, Rob Reiner, Robert Towne, Roger Corman, Penny Marshall, Jack Nicholson and many others. "Acting is life study, and Corey's classes got me into looking at life as an artist," Nicholson once said. Corey appeared in dozens of B movies, in uncredited parts and bit roles as henchmen, reporters, soldiers, even Abraham Lincoln -- twice! He appeared in such films as "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man," "Follow Me Quietly," "Rock Island Trail," "Rawhide" and "Only the Valiant."

Corey had been an actor in New York before he and his wife relocated to Hollywood in the early 1940s. He found many film roles, but his career was interrupted by WWII. Corey served as a combat photographer and earned commendations for filming a kamikaze attack upon his ship. Following the war, he resumed his career assaying plum roles in "The Killers," "Brute Force" and "Home of the Brave." Then came a subpoena from the House Committee on Un-American Activities. "Most of us were retired reds. We had left it, at least I had, years before," Corey said in "Tender Comrades: A Backstory of the Hollywood Blacklist." "They just wanted two new names so they could hand out more subpoenas." Corey refused and ended up working as a laborer for $14 a day. For more than a decade, he was blacklisted for refusing to name names. He didn't appear in another film until 1963. Word of mouth and his reputation as an articulate, insightful teacher kept his acting classes going, and one of his students, Pat Boone, eventually helped secure a role for Corey in "The Yellow Canary," which restarted his acting career. Thereafter, he had significant parts in classic films including "In Cold Blood," "Seconds," "The Cincinnati Kid," "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," "True Grit" and "Little Big Man," which featured Corey as Wild Bill Hickok. Corey worked extensively in television, as well, appearing in such programs as "Mannix," "Bonanza," "Night Gallery," "Star Trek," "Gunsmoke," "The Wild, Wild West," "Perry Mason" and many others. He also directed episodes of "The Bob Newhart Show," "Alias Smith and Jones," "Night Gallery" and others.
